Advanced Available to Promise – What Does It Do?

We sometimes struggled with backorder management and many of us envied the options of Global ATP – if only we had SAP SCM!  With the latest release of SAP S/4HANA, there are more new tools that build on the Available to Promise (ATP) functionalities that we used in SAP ERP.  Advanced Available to Promise (aATP) is a collection of these new processes and, if you can cope with an ‘acronym avalanche’, this session will show what they do.

Product Allocation (PAL) was always available but relied upon on a heavy use of the Logistics Information System (LIS) to define the allowed allocations by product, customer and period for example.  In SAP S/4HANA, you will see how the maintenance of PAL is simplified and more flexible.

Backorder Processing (BOP) has been totally redefined in SAP S/4HANA.  Using a variety of functions, customer backorders can be adjusted to match the customer importance and the current inventory situation.  A demonstration will show how confirmed stock for an order can be a win, loss, gain, redistribution or fill for a customer.

A new function called Release for Delivery (RFDY) will show how to fine tune availability decisions before the delivery is released for action by the warehouse.

Alternative-Based Confirmation (ABC) is the first step of providing SAP S/4HANA with the ability to determine the best plant to confirm a new sales order quantity.  Whilst this was a manual process in SAP ERP and more streamlined in SAP SCM, you will see this as the first step to integrating SAP S/4HANA and SAP SCM Global ATP.
