In this blog post, we want to share the 10 highlights of the methodology content enhancements in SAP Activate for deployment of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition that were recently published for the 2408 release update. Note that you can find an approximately 5-minute video showing a demo of all these enhancements at the bottom of this post.
You will find a new task that covers the verification of the Initial Admin/Technical Administrator, including defining their role, outlining steps to identify the suitable candidate, introducing a new user onboarding token process, guiding on creating and using SAP Universal IDs and managing cloud notification subscriptions on behalf of others. You can access the here - Verify Initial Admin/Technical Administrator. See more details about the task in the image below.
A new task has been created to streamline the process of requesting initial system access for SAP S/4HANA Cloud and related systems, including SAP Cloud ALM tenant, SAP Central Business Configuration tenant, and SAP S/4HANA Cloud Starter System. Requests are managed through SAP for Me, initiated by the initial Admin User, who subsequently receives access instructions via email. Bundled Provisioning allows partners and customers to request access to multiple system tenants in a single request for enhanced efficiency. You can access the task here - Request Initial System Access of SAP S/4HANA Cloud.
A new SAP Activate task explains granting SAP implementation partners access to create and manage cases for customers on their behalf. The procedure, detailed in SAP Note 2518600, outlines steps to follow using SAP for Me, enabling authorization for service partners (S-users) to provide support services. You can access the task here Grant Access to Partner for Creating and Managing Cases.
The recent updates emphasize the importance of downtime and restriction windows in data migration, ensuring minimal business disruption. A new accelerator, Software Lifecycle Management, was added to support data migration tasks in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition development environment. Additionally, the Hotfix Collection Deployment Restrictions.pdf accelerator was introduced for the SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit task, offering guidance on deploying hotfixes. Additional content updates were made to enhance support for data migration via direct transfer, and general procedure updates improved readability and usability, aiming to streamline the migration process and enhance user comprehension. You can find the updated content in the following tasks:
A comprehensive review of the Organizational Change Management (OCM) content included new and rework of many deliverables, tasks and accelerators. In addition, a new Organizational Change Management tag has been created that includes 7 accelerators in Discover phase attached to task Organizational Change Management Overview; 12 accelerators in Prepare phase assigned to following tasks:
an accelerator in Explore phase assigned to task Communication Plan Execution; 4 accelerators in the Realize phase assigned to the task Detailed Change Impact Analysis.
Additionally, you can find a standalone comprehensive methodology roadmap for Organizational Change Management in SAP Activate Roadmap Viewer.
The SAP Activate methodology updates for lifecycle events include adding tasks to the Release and Update Cycle deliverable, covering three key lifecycle events: Review and Process Hotfix Collection, Evaluate and Activate Feature from Continuous Delivery, and Prepare and Process Upgrade. These tasks streamline lifecycle management, and the SAP Activate for Upgrade of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition (3-system landscape) roadmap is now linked to the Prepare and Process Upgrade task, offering a structured guide for handling upgrades in a 3-system landscape.
The Review and Process Hotfix Collection task was updated to include references to several key accelerators: Software Lifecycle Management for Customers, Upgrade & Maintenance Schedule, and Hotfix Collection Deployment Restrictions. These updates provide users with comprehensive guidance on managing hotfix collections effectively. You can access them on the following tasks:
The enhancements for customers in the early adopter program for parallel project lines allow for a clear separation of incremental configuration activities from the “main line,” enabling the productive environment to remain up-to-date with the latest software releases. After validation, new configurations can be merged back into the main line and transported to the productive environment. These enhancements also include features for managing development and test environments, copying master data for data migration testing, and copying automated testing scripts. You can access this content in a dedicated SAP Activate methodology for parallel project lines early adopters here. If you want to see only the tasks that have been adjusted for this new functionality, access Parallel Project Line tag to display these tasks.
The SAP Activate Methodology for SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) provides implementation guidelines for customers deploying BTP-based solutions. It includes phases, deliverables, and tasks following the SAP Activate framework, with accelerators linked to relevant tasks for easy access. Deliverables and tasks are listed sequentially, though some may need to be parallelized for efficiency. This roadmap will be rolled out in phases, starting with a focus on governance and key implementation milestones, and later expanding to specialized areas like App Development, Automation, Integration, Data & Analytics, and AI.
The SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition roadmap for converting from a 2-system to a 3-system landscape has been updated with insights from customer conversions using both CBC and Solution Builder-based systems. Key updates include setting up transport management for business continuity, revised self-enablement activities, and the addition of a new accelerator highlighting delta features for the landscape conversion. A Customer Conversion Checklist accelerator and a new SAP Community accelerator for the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, Three-System Landscape, have also been introduced to support the conversion process.
