We regularly get asked by our customers to summarise the differences between SAP Asset Manager and SAP Work Manager, here we discuss the key differences and similarities.

Firstly, it is easy to assume that SAP Asset Manager is simply a replacement of SAP Work Manager as they are both mobility options provided by SAP. Both products provide field workers with the necessary tools to access information remotely, that otherwise they would only be able to access back in the office or on paper.  However, SAP have assured their users that they will continue to update both products for as long as there is a requirement from their customers. And for as long as there is a requirement On Device Solutions will be able to help you make the right choice of SAP solution for your business.  At present, SAP Work Manager has a more robust functionality, but that isn’t to say that future updates won’t increase the functionality of the newer SAP Asset Manager.

The table below summarises the differences between the two products.

So, when might SAP Asset Manager work best for your business?

Asset Manager may be particularly appealing to customers with a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) business that has a product that has been designed to integrate with modern technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT). The design is also made with iOS in mind which makes this a particularly user friendly interface. Especially with fieldworkers, increased user-friendliness has been linked to a higher uptake of successful mobile working.
