VIES (VAT validation via EU Commission Web Service) with SAP Master Data Governance: MDG-BP/Customer/Supplier

Hi Everyone,

If you are looking for a solution to integrate VIES with SAP MDG, you can use OVS - Online Validation Service functionality.

Background: VIES is provided by the European Commission for validating VAT-identification numbers of economic operators registered in the European Union for cross-border transactions on goods or services. The open interface of the commission site is provided as a SOAP service, offering the same functionality as the interactive service is available.

VIES was not integrated with SAP Master Data Governance due to which additional Enhancement was required to consume the SOAP service to ensure Data Quality.

As of January 01, 2020, the validation of VAT registration numbers for EU business partners is mandatory. With S/4 HANA 2021, the SOAP service to validate VAT is integrated with SAP MDG - Business Partner/Customer/Supplier. You can directly connect to the service by setting up a remote connection or via a CPI Tenant.

The OVS VIES customizing can be done using the below transactions according to your business requirements: -

thanks a lot for sharing the info about OVS VIES integration into MDG!

With OVS there's not only VIES integration, but several others where SAP is delivering a standard configuration (and the option for customer-specific validations)...

• Bank accounts against the List of VAT Payers owned by the Polish tax authorities 
• Bank accounts against the Slovakian Bank Accounts Register
• Unreliable payer against the register of the Tax Office of the Czech Republic
• Customer-specific validation
