SuccessFactors Is Listening!


The 2H 2020 SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central (EC) release is live now in the preview instance. On top of it, The EC Time & Attendance is shaping up very well. There are some really good enhancements which are part of this release and again these requests are coming from customers in recent times. The Cross-Midnight Absence Recording is one such finest innovations SAP brought in. Even though it is been restricted to absences in the current release, the road map is very clear and excites us more.

This blog, I should say one of favourites, EC Time is always a challenging subject when it comes to implementations, I always enjoy working on time & attendance, the topic enabled me to meet so many nice people and always had great interactive sessions, luckily, I always had chance to meet true experts.

Like my previous blogs on release updates, I will talk about the key updates that you should consider. This particular release, Time Off has the most updates.

 

  1. Ad Hoc Time Accounts: Ad hoc time accounts are used for occasional (ad hoc) events such as purchased leaves or relocation. Request coming from customers, asking for a time account creation type that is independent from the regular account creation process.

  1. Automatic Adjustment of Accrual Transfer Dates: Accrual transfer dates are recalculated when you record absences such as Unauthorized Leave or Leave without pay. The system now automatically adjusts accrual transfer dates. Best example would be “Long Service Leave in Australia”

  1. Cross-Midnight Absence Recording in Time Management: The most awaited! Employees working in cross-midnight shifts can now create, edit, or delete absences crossing midnight.

  • If you want to take a half-day (or some other absence that is less than a full working day), deselect the Full Day checkbox and enter the start and end times of the absence.

  • If you request an absence that crosses midnight and ends on the next day, the end time shows as End Time (+1 day). An absence that ends at midnight, or 12:00 a.m., shows as End Time (+1 day)

  • If the admin has enabled recurring absences in your system, you can make the absence recurring if you want. You can just replace No Recurrence with either Daily, Weekly, or Biweekly as necessary


 

  1. Cross-Midnight Changes to Work Schedule in Time Management: You can now enter one continuous planned working time segment from one day to the next, yes, you heard it right, it is now possible to enter a working time segment from 10:00 p.m. on the first day in the work schedule to 6:00 a.m. on the second day. It is no longer necessary to add one segment up to midnight and another starting after midnight ?

While configuring, I realized that, currently, this is limited to absences, which means you can only assign a cross midnight work schedule to employees who only record absences


Here it is, this how the work schedules looks like:




  1. Delete or Edit Temporary Work Schedule Assignment: It is now possible to delete or edit the assignment of a temporary work schedule with a regular work schedule pattern. It was not previously possible to edit the dates within a temporary work schedule assignment or to delete the assignment. You can now do both of those things. Note that deleting the assignment does not delete the work schedule, only the assignment.

  1. Flexible Booking Period Configuration on Time Accounts: You can now configure the bookable period of a time account more flexibly and set custom fields on a time account. In the previous version, the Booking Possible From and the Booking Possible Until dates were fixed to the Account Valid From and the Account Valid Until (plus the Account Booking Offset) dates respectively.

  1. Searching Users in the Team Absence Calendar: You now receive email notifications to inform you when an automated job posting is successful, unsuccessful, or partially successful. The generated email notification gives in-depth information about automated job posting events. Previously, you only received email notifications when an automated job posting event failed. Also, the email notification did not provide information about why the job failed.

  1. New Day View for Team Absence Calendar: Now employees or the managers can see the absences and planned working times, like, when they started and ended on the timeline. The day view also displays cross-midnight absences and planned working times. For example, if an employee is working a cross-midnight shift and has a partial day absence from 10:00 p.m. to 02:00 a.m., then you can view the absence as 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 am on the starting day of the shift and as 12:00 a.m. to 02:00 a.m. on the next day. The planned working time information in the day view includes details like work schedule name, working times and breaks.

  1. Leave Loading for Australia (Country Specific): SuccessFactors now supports stand-alone Leave Loading requests, and it’s independent from the vacation leave requests. Employees can submit their Leave Loading payment request from Employee Self-Service page (ESS). Additionally, managers can submit requests for their direct reports from Manager Self-Service page (MSS). As per SAP Note: Currently this functionality is only available for Australian public sector. Also, while the Employee Central side of this feature is available, customers can't use the feature as a whole until the support package mentioned is released and even the full documentation won't be available until then either.
