Selection of the Alternate BOM of a Phantom Item

Hello

I found few queries on how to select the alternate BOM of the Phantom assembly. So here I am mentioning the process to resolve this with the version management.

The Phantom Assembly is not creating any production order. This just explodes the component maintained in it in the header Items order.

As per the standard SAP, the system will always pick the same version of the Phantom items as we picked for the Header items.

TO explain it better, let’s take an example.

Here SFG is treated as the Phantom item which is used in the BOM of a FG.

This phantom item also has 2 alternate BOMs and also having version against the same in the system.

FG material - 7100026

SFG material – 7100025

Raw material - 7100024

Raw material – 7100023

Master Data Settings – MM02 (mandatory)

SFG – 7100025

MRP 2 View – Special Procurement – 50 (Phantom Assembly)

MRP 4 View – BOM Selection Method – 2 (Selection by production Version). Screen 1

BOM Structure – CS02

FG BOM contains 7100025 (screen 2)

                                                      screen 2

SFG BOM has 2 alternate BOMS

SFG BOM contains 7100024 (Alternate 1)

SFG BOM contains 7100024 and 7100023 (Alternate 2)

Version Management – C223

For FG I maintained 2 versions with the same alternate BOM.

All the data of the versions are same, just the versions are different.

Have a look on screen .

For SFG we have 2 BOM so 2 Versions in the system. Screen

Now all the settings are done in the system. You just need to convert the planned order into the production order or try to create a new Production order (CO01)

So here I am trying to convert the planned order of FG into the production order with version 0001

System Pick the component of the SFG with version 1.

Reread the master data in the production order for selection of version 2

The BOM components also changes and pick the SFG BOM version 2.
