In my Earlier blog,
Change for Good…Analytics with S/4HANA 1909 , we saw the inclusion on new app "Manage KPIs & Reports" in S/4HANA On-Premise version 1909 and later we saw how we can quickly create Analytical List Page (ALP) reports quickly using this app in my blog "
Embedded Analytics in Action…Analytical List Page(ALP) Report in Minutes.
In this blog, i am going to cover what is
different in "Manage KPIs & Reports" in
S/4HANA Cloud as compared to
On-premise and also we will see how to create wonderful dashboards using this additional feature supported by the cloud version..exciting ..isn't it?
Let's Begin...
Differences in On-Premise and Cloud version of the app.
When we open up the "Manage KPI & Reports" in S/4HANA Cloud , we notice an additional tab called
"Stories" which is missing in the On-Premise version as shown below.
So, what are these stories?? How can we build one?? ... i know all these question must have already popped up in your head.... but hold on you horses for a while... Before we look more into
stories , lets see what else is different in cloud version...
In addition to Stories, there is an additional report type "
Data Analyzer Report" that we could create in cloud version as you can see in the screen blow.
I Know, you must be thinking , why this bias. Why these features are not available in On-premise version and the answer is SAP's cloud first approach and hopefully , we will get these features in On-premise version also in future release.
Stories
Stories is nothing but the Dashboards. S/4HANA Cloud provides pre-delivered Dashboard. As we can see in the above screen shot, there are few pre-delivered dashboards.
We can also edit the existing ones or could create a custom dashboard if required.
Let's quickly create a custom dashboard for demo purpose.
- To Create a Dashboard, select the Stories tab and click on Add.
- Add the Title click on Configuration tab
- Select the Query (data source) , you want to use , from the list of standard queries. For , this demo dashboard, i am going to use Sales Analytics query
- Enter the input values for the mandatory parameters (if any) defined in the selected query. Here , i want the display currency to be USD.
- Below, screen will appear.
- Below are some of the the key controls to design the dashboard
- Add the title and click on insert chart to add one.
- The Measures and Dimensions will be shown as per the query selected in the previous step. As , in this case , i had selected Sales analytics query, and in first graph, i want to show the sales volume per by customer, i have selected the same as measure and dimension.
- We get a lot of option to play with the way the data to be displayed in the chart. For, to sort the data displayed in graph, click on the 3 dots shown in below screen and we will see all the options including sort.
- Lets say, we want to have Sales Volume Analysis based on different Dimensions. For that, , i changed the title to "Sales Volumes Analysis" and inserted another graph to show sales volume by Sales Organisation
- So in this we can add more charts with different dimensions for sales volume analysis. We can control the Lanes displayed by inserting or deleting the same as shown in below screen.
ivate
- I deleted the lane on right and added one below, to do Sales Profit analysis
So now , we know how to add charts or tables to our dashboard and to play with formatting. Now,lets create a tile for the Dashboard we just created .
- Activate the Story and go to the Applications tab click on Add Tile
- Select the tile format and click OK.
- Add details and click on Save and Publish.
- Once Published , Custom Catalog Extension app will open, where we need to add the dashboard tile to the catalog.
- Search for the required catalog and add. Here i have added the app to the Sales Analytics Catalog
- Select the added rows and click on Publish.
- Once Published , We can see the app added to the the Sales Analytics catalog.
- Click on app and here we go, we have the up and running dashboard...
One last thing before we are done.
Say, we want to
jump to other apps from this dashboard. To achieve that, we can add Navigation Intents under the applications tab.
And republish the app. And now we will see the option to
jump to the apps.
With this we are done. Now we know how to create Dashboard quickly in S/4HANA cloud using the Embedded SAC capabilities. Hope we will see the features in the On-Premise version also soon ..
Keep Learning & Keep Sharing!!
