SAP's solution is designed to empower organizations with real-time visibility and control over their work center capacities. Whether you're in manufacturing, services, or logistics, this app offers a robust framework for planning, monitoring, and optimizing resource allocations across your operations.
Capacity Planning: Plan capacities based on demand forecasts and production schedules, ensuring resources are allocated optimally.
Resource Allocation: Efficiently allocate resources across different work centers to minimize downtime and maximize utilization.
Real-Time Monitoring: Monitor capacity utilization in real-time, allowing for immediate adjustments to maintain production schedules.
Scenario Planning: Simulate various production scenarios to anticipate capacity requirements and mitigate potential bottlenecks.
To effectively utilize the SAP Manage Work Center Capacities app, follow these steps:
Set Up Work Center Data: Begin by entering detailed information about each work center in your organization. This includes capacity constraints, operating hours, and specific resource capabilities.
Define Capacity Requirements: Based on your production forecasts and demand planning, set capacity requirements for each work center. This involves specifying production volumes, lead times, and any special constraints.
Monitor and Adjust in Real-Time: Utilize the app's real-time monitoring capabilities to track actual production against planned capacities. Identify any discrepancies or potential bottlenecks early on and make necessary adjustments to resource allocations.
Below are the steps that will help you to use the Manage Work Center Capacity App:
Go to Manage Work Center Capacity App:
Then we can adjust our app settings, where we can update the critical load and normal load under Load Personalization:
We can adjust the parameters like Evaluation Horizons, Bucket type, Load Type and etc. as per our business needs and visibility criterias
We can select the work centers where we see there is an overload
This is our utilization graph
We can see the operations and available capacities
We can also see the utilization hours
Upon clicking on the bar, the bottom of the screen displays the associated operations along with a reschedule button. When we click the reschedule button, a pop-up window appears.
We can attempt to reschedule the operation to a future date and check if capacities are available. For instance, we can try moving it from the 8th to the 15th.
After saving the changes, we can see that capacities are now available on the 8th, but there is an additional overload on the 15th.
Therefore, we shift some operations back on the 8th.
Now, we need to find a different solution for the 8th. We observe that the required capacity exceeds the available capacity, with only one shift currently running from 7 AM to 4 PM. To address this, we add another shift from 4 PM to 10 PM. However, this still doesn't meet the requirement, so we further add a shift from 10 PM to 6 AM.
Even after these adjustments, the capacity requirements still exceed availability. Therefore, we need to explore another solution.
What we can do is increase the number of available capacities from 1 to 2, thereby extending the available hours from 8 to 16.
This adjustment increases the available capacity and eliminates the overload for the 8th. Similarly, we can apply this approach to future dates to plan and schedule production more accurately.
