Indian warehousing landscape is transforming rapidly. Riding the wave of structured reforms such as the implementation of Goods & Services Act, Indian warehousing and logistics sector is estimated to attract nearly $10 billion investments over the next 4-5 years. With addition of around 200 million sq ft warehousing space across India, total supply is expected to nearly double by 2022- as estimated by JLL India. With such rapid expansion, comes complex challenges associated with managing the warehouse. In one of the quarterly done customer experience surveys at Embee, we found out that one of the most prominent challenges are lack of inventory oversight that builds up inefficiencies within the warehouse, slows down operations and increases costs. “Without adequate insight into location, pickers take longer to find the items to ship, which slows the loading process and creates a backlog in labour allocation and dock-door scheduling,” said one of our customers, a Mumbai based automobile parts manufacturing business owner.
Team Embee decided to work upon the challenge and found pick-to-light and put-to-light to be the most efficient solution to solve this problem.

Solution Name:
WMS with mobility and integrated with PTL device
Solution Description:
Pick-to-light and Put-to-light is an order-fulfilment, paperless technology that improves picking accuracy and efficiency while aiming at reducing the labor costs. In the light-aided mechanism, workforce are guided to manually pick or put away material. Here’s how it works:
Step1: Operators scan item barcodes that are put on to the containers, for example, shipping cartons.
Step 2: The LED system set up on top of each rack panel then lights up to guide the operator to the indicated storage location. There, the system then indicates how many and which items should be picked.
Step 3: The operator picks the item(s), places them in the container, and then presses a button to confirm the picking. The light goes off to indicate picking operation has been successfully completed.
Solution Use Case
Real Customer Use-case:
For warehouses that still have manual processes in place, there tends to be no common way taken to pick items for shipment, which adds unnecessary time to find a product and send off for shipment. With a huge set up or large area with lots of racks and bins, workforce identify and locate the material for picking / shipment thus causing delay and high operational costs.
One of the most prominent challenges are lack of inventory oversight that builds up inefficiencies within the warehouse, slows down operations and increases costs.
Without adequate insight into location, pickers take longer to find the items to ship, which slows the loading process and creates a backlog in labor allocation and dock-door scheduling.
The solution aims to empower Warehouses that face following challenges:
Manual processes
Increased labour costs
Lag in order fulfillment accuracy
Time-consuming paperwork
Erroneous product picking and putting processes
Industry focus:
3PL / Manufacturing / Warehousing
Solution Details:
Increase the productivity of our staff as time to search for a Pick/Put Location is eliminated
Improve order delivery accuracy with fewer or no picking errors
Lower labor costs and training costs with easy to use system, training time can marginally reduced
Paperless process
Increase staff efficiency with organized system and quick to spot the racks/bins to pick and put away material
