Different bank statement processing in S/4HANA

Before explaining the interface connection between SAP S/4HANA we need to understand that Bank statement processing in SAP S/4HANA can be handled through different methods, each offering varying levels of automation and efficiency:

  1. Manual processing:

In this method, the bank accountant receives the daily bank statement on paper and manually enters the relevant information (e.g., opening balance, closing balance, memo line) into the system.

  1. Semi-automatic processing of electronic bank statement (EBS)

With this approach, the bank accountant downloads the electronic bank statement (EBS) from the bank platform and uploads it into the SAP S/4HANA system.

  1. Fully automatic processing with the API: Bank Statement - Post

By utilizing the API, bank statement processing becomes fully automated, eliminating the need for manual download/upload by the bank accountant.

Isabel 6

Isabel 6 is an electronic application which allows you to safely manage and control all your bank accounts via one platform. Bank statements in different XML formats (CAMT053, MT940, ..) can be downloaded and uploaded to the SAP S/4HANA system.

API: Bank Statement - Post

With the API Bank Statement - Post a direct connection is created between S/4HANA and Isabel 6. Bank statements with all its rich account information (reference, date, account numbers, …) are imported in real time or at specific moments of the day. This eliminates the need for manual intervention, freeing up accountants' time for more valuable tasks.

Mapping between source message and target message

A mapping was necessary to establish the interface between S/4HANA and Isabel 6. This step was crucial for setting up the connection between the two systems. It ensured seamless communication and data transfer between S/4HANA and Isabel 6.
