Background :-

In SAP ECC and S/4 HANA, during production order/process order confirmation of Batch managed material like finished goods, semi finished goods we get default dialogue box for entering Date of Manufacture and we will have to enter the date manually.

Business Requirement :-
In order to avoid manual work, sometimes business will ask for requirement that Date of manufacture will be default same as posting date or system date while doing the confirmation of process order or production order.

New fields introduced in Production Scheduling Profile in SAP S/4 HANA 2020 which was not there up to 1909 version
In order to satisfy above requirement SAP has added option of Date of Manufacture.
Use >>>>To get default Date of manufacture same as posting date or system date. In SAP ECC and up to S/4 HANA 1909 version, I did not find Date of Manufacture and offset in days fields in Production Scheduling profile. In SAP S/4 HANA 2020, Date of Manufacture has been added that reduces the manually enter DOM.

In order to get default date of manufacture in confirmation of order below is the set up in Production Scheduling Profile

1.Date of Manufacture

  1. DOM same as posting date

  2. Confirmation date

  3. DOM same as system date

2.Offset in Days - Positive or negative no of days.

Lets check how it works :-

  • There is no setting maintained of DOM in Production Scheduling Profile

In this case we have to maintain the date manually.

  • Now below the Date of Manufacture is maintain as posting date in Profile

Default Date of Manufacture is appear as posting date

  • Default Date of Manufacture as system date in Profile

Date of Manufacture appear as same as system date

  • I did not understand confirmation date in DOM field in Scheduling profile.

Offset in days:- If you want the date of manufacture to always be moved by a specific number of days before or after the chosen default date.

You can give positive and negative no's in field.

There will be date of manufacture 26.06.2022 as posting date is 28.06.2022 as Offset is -2 days.

Advantages :-

  1. This will reduce the manual maintenance and human errors.

  2. Default date of manufacture will get appear after maintaining the setting.

Looking forward for your Feedback/comments and any improvement require in blog so that it will be helpful.

Hello Prasad,

Thank you for feedback.

Yes , I was trying to test with C and F  for one of my requirement.

Looks like we may need to implement above note to make that particular function work.

Regards,

Amit

Hello, thanks for the post.

This worked for me after setting the Production Scheduling Profile in the Material master data (Work Scheduling view) of the manufactured product.
