Production Order Split

Production order can be split into separate production orders. When the time for example there is some capacity issue. The split production orders are then executed separately. Production order you want to split must be released, and with some other status, please see the below description on help document.

Below you can see the steps tested in SAP internal system.

The production order was released, and one of the operation was confirmed with full quantity 10 pc.

I would like to start the splitting from operation 0020.

Select this operation and go to Functions - Split Order.

Then a new screen shown to let you select the Split Method (Split with same material or with different material), input the split quantity and other information if you want to change.

After clicking Split Order, a pop-up screen showed the serial numbers. This is because the material to be split is serial managed material. You can select the serial numbers that will be split to other production order.

After confirmed, the order split has been executed. Now the operation 0020 has a new status SPLT, and the operation quantity from this operation have been change to 7 pc. Because 3 pc has been split to other operation.

Save the production order and reopen it, you can see a tree structure on the left to show the parent order and child order:

The operation in the child order is starting from the 0020 operation which was split from the parent order. The child order was default released.

The split order function can also be used in MTO scenario.

See bellow test case. FG228 is a MTO material with Strategy Group 20 maintained.

The order with sales order assigned can also be split:

In the Stock/Requirements List, you will see 2 production orders (Parent order and Child order)to fulfill the same sales order.

If you select the Split Method as “Split with Other Material”. The components and operations in the child order will be copied from the new material number.
