This procedure is Part 1 of the series which describes the very first steps to download the media. We will focus on creating Sandbox type instance with co-deployed (embedded) gateway.
As a prep you may like to empty the download basket for your S-000 user so that any files added to the download basket are meant for this task and will help to ensure that only the required files are included.
You need to login to Maintenance Plannerto access system assigned to your S-user. Please ensure landscape data is uploaded to SAP support portal via LMDB of SAP Solution Manager. The system that you are converting has to be defined in OSS under your customer ID. The diagram below shows the Maintenance planner cloud service and how it integrates with Customer system. The source system data is(1)sent to SLD.(2)data from SLD is synchronized with Landscape Management Database (LMDB).(3)From LMDB the data is uploaded to customer profile in SAP support portal using Solman daily job – “landscape Fetch”. If there is issue in replicating you may be asked to applyNote 2186164 – Problem in replicating systems to Maintenance Planner TIP:This data based on Customer Number is used by Maintenance Planner for all planning activities. So ensure you use same customer number to define system in sapnet as well as use same S-user id.

thanks for those blogs on how to initially install S/4HANA 1610.
Do you also have experience you can share with us in regards to upgrading an existing S/4HANA 1511 to 1610?
(I heard rumors about this not working so well, e.g. MARC-Appends getting lost completely in the process, do you know anything in that regard?)
Some customers have already upgraded to S/4HANA 1610 their dev/qas landscape and are on way to move further in the project.
Keep in mind that from 1511 to 1610 you need to go through upgrade guide and run the precheck programs "similar" to the ERP to S/4HANA but much less work involved.
many thanks for your valuable blogs! As you started in early November, you installed S/4HANA1610 with HANA 1.0. Now HANA 2.0 is out and the SAP HANA Server Installation and Update Guide is already based on HANA Platform Edition 2.0. Which HANA Platform Release do you suggest for installing a new S/4HANA1610 system?
We need to use SAP BPC 10.1 on S/4 HANA. We know We have to install the required Add-on but We are not sure which one must be installed for this purpose.
We are stuck in the step " Install or Maintain an Add-on"
Do you by chance know which one need to be installed?
You need to create DBCON-entries for the connection LCA, LDA and LEA (see SAP Note 1825703 – Migration SCM on SAP HANA with integrated SAP HANA liveCache ), execute the GRANT of this note. After this he should run program SLCA_INIT_FOLLOW_UP and /SAPAPO/OM_CREATE_LC_TABLES.
You should schedule jobs: /sapapo/om_reorg_daily in each client which is liveCache relevant (per default all clients beside 000) one time every day, /sapapo/om_delete_old_simsess in one client which is LC-relevant every 30 minutes, and /sapapo/om_lcaalerts in one client every 12 hours. - Mahesh
Thanks for your notes! Very useful! Did you also activated Fiori in this S/4HANA 1610? As I saw, you created this S/4HANA with embedded Fiori frontend.
we have installed a S4HANA 1610 system & we want to use the embedded BPC, is it enabled by default or we will need to execute any post installation steps for the same ? is there any documentation available for the same, if yes, can you pls help to share the same
I can see that there is an option "Java Adapter Selection" during maintenance planner run.
I went through the S/4 HANA "Getting Started Guide" as well as "Installation Guide" and did not manage to find anything related to this Java Adapter, May I ask what this is for ?
There are also 2 options offered for the Target Version for "Java Adapter Selection", namely
S/4HANA 1610 FPS0 standard installation does not require Java Adapter selection, Please let me know exactly what you are trying to install so I can look at component requirement.
