My AI Experience Sharing - Setting up Joule for the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition (C: Deinstall)

Introduction

Now Artificial Intelligence (AI) is on every professional’s mind. Everybody wants to be on the bandwagon.  I plan to write a series of blogs on this topic under a big umbrella “My AI Experience Sharing”.  This is the first mini-series: setting up Joule for the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. 

I purposely delayed my action on setting up a Joule to wait for the dust settling down during the Early Adopter phase. The intention paid off but still won’t give me a free pass 😉. There are five credible references available as listed in the Reference section, but none of them give you a good explanation on Why, especially on What in a critical step with a readable picture when you desperately need a hint.  To help all the people like me, this blog will focus on explaining those steps, what to enter, and possible mistakes to avoid. 

Note 1: The content here is drawn from my direct experience from setting up Joule for the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition (more than five times and still counting). It might be true for other SAP solutions but only use that as a reference so that I don’t feel the pressure of entire SAP world on my shoulder 😁.

Note 2: Since there are a lot of topics to discuss, I divided the mini-series into Part A Preparation,  Part B Joule Installation and Part C Deinstallation. 

Note 3: The systems I used in this mini-series are:

  • BTP Global Account: 2024-09 3SL Account
  • BTP Joule Subaccount: PSCC-AMER-3SL-PRD
  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition Production tenant G4X/100, http://myxxxxxxx.s4hana.cloud.sap/ 
  • Cloud Identity Services: Provisioned together with above BTP and Public Cloud tenants, xxxxxxxx.accounts.ondemand.com

Note 4: Considering some customers and consultants need to deinstall and reinstall Joule for many reasons like practicing the installation, correcting an unsuccessful installation, etc., I am adding a new blog Part C: Deinstallation here for your reference.

 

Thirteen Major Joule Deinstallation Steps

Deinstallation is relatively easy. I list these steps in the below figure so that you can cleanly remove all the components in three systems, namely the Business Technology Platform (BTP), the S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition (S/4) and the Cloud Identity Services (CIS).
