You may have found that undoing the deletion of deleted operations of a maintenance order is not possible. We have implemented a solution that allows you to undo the deletion and to reactivate its components and PRTs (Production Ressources & Tools).

Menu of Maintenance Order

Once a maintenance order has been released, it is no longer possible to physically delete operations. In this case, operations are marked for deletion (system status I0013, DLT). You can now select individual operations which are already marked for deletion on the Operations tab page and undo the deletion in the menu under Edit -> Undo Deletion. The system deletes the deletion indicator and system status for this operation and its suboperations, and also reactivates its components and PRTs. After saving of the order, the correspondent purchase requisition or reservation will be updated as well.

If the object list entry has not been deleted in the meantime, the link to the object list entry will still be part of the operation after undoing the deletion.

When deleting an operation, capacity requirements for operations are deleted as well, but can be scheduled again when deletion of operation has been undone.

All other objects that are dependent on the operation, which were deleted before, such as for example relationships to other operations, LAM data (not in case of standard order view), and the link to assigned documents, cannot be reactivated using this functionality, because these objects are deleted physically.

You can also undo the deletion of deleted operations when you edit the maintenance order in the simple order view. Note that this new functionality is not supported for orders which are enabled for OAA (Operation Account Assignment).

You can use authorization object I_BETRVORG for business transaction RMUO if you would prefer to give authorization to undo the deletion only to certain users instead of all users. This business transaction is relevant for undoing the deletion of deleted operations. If you do not allow users to run this business transaction, they can not reactivate the operation.

The new functionality is now available with SAP Note 3083769 or with the SAP Enhancement Package 8 for SAP ERP 6.0 as well as for SAP S/4HANA 2020 and 2021. You can enable the new functionality by implementing either the SAP Note or the corresponding support packages and switching on the business function Enterprise Asset Management Part 18. To find out more, refer to the linked SAP Note.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the new functionality, so please comment if you have any questions!

Hello Anika!  Could you share any feedback that you have received thus far, maybe in summary, from those that have used this new functionality in S4HANA?

Thank you!

Hi,

have you activated the correspondent business function for this new functionality? Without that the new functionality is not available. Please check the mentioned notes for further details.

Best regards,

Anika

Hi,

I am sorry, but I don’t have any written feedback so far. The testers of this functionality really appreciate that new functionality and we see a lot of benefits while using this. Hope this helps. Maybe here is also someone who can share his/her praxis feedback with us?

Best regards,

Anika
Thank you Anika.

Before we would choose to "activate" this new functionality we want to evaluate its impact on other areas of business activities. Such as, "reactivated" purchase requisitions that were previously associated with the operation but had not yet been "approved/released", and/or, the rescheduling of the "undeleted" operation.

If you have inputs of this, please share.

Sure. The reactivation of purchase requisitions means that they are open again. In standard the PR receives a deletion flag as well in case of operation is deleted. This is reverted and the same PR can be reused due to this.

The scheduling needs to be checked manually afterward or you have to reschedule the operation once you undone the deletion.

Hope this information helps you.

Regards,

Anika

Yes this helps. Thank you.

We have existing Workflows and Release Strategy functionality that handles the "approval" of the PR's before the following PO would be created.  This is why I made the earlier comment.

From my distant understanding of this "approval" functionality, I believe that it is Standard SAP design.

We will just have to activate this functionality in our Sandbox and evaluate its usage and impacts.

Thank you!

Also, please add more inputs as you feel is helpful.

Regards Anika.

We made an update from version 1610 on-premise to version 2020 cloud, in transaction IW32 when a component is deleted it shows the following message "Text ID MATN for text object AUFK does not exist"  Message no. TD603

How do I know what the description is for the MATN text ID? To enter it in the SE75 transaction and with this is enough or is a SAP note necessary?

Thank you!

We are in S4 HANA 2021 but did not see undo option in edit menu. Also if I turn off display deletion, it didn't show the operations that was deleted.

Hi prakashc,

if you turn off display deletion, deleted operations are no longer displayed. You need to turn them on to see them. The operations are then visible but greyed out.

To receive this new feature to undo the deletion it is necessary to implement the mentioned notes or SP and to activate the correspondent Business Function. Have you done that already? If so and if it is then still not visible, please create an incident regarding this issue. My colleagues from Support will help you with this as soon as possible.

Just wanted to confirm, we are in latest version of S4 Hana, but to get "undo delete" option we need to:

  1. Implement the note 3083769
  2. Ensure the WO is released
  3. Select display deletions
  4. And then the option of "undo deletion" will appear?

Hi @Anish0502,

thanks for your comment. What do you mean with tagged components? Components which are deleted due to a deleted operations will be available again after you have undone the deletion of the operation. This is only possible for released orders.

If you have activated the business function and this is still not the case, please create an incident regarding this issue. My colleagues from Support will help you with this as soon as possible.

Anika

Hello @anika_roeder ,

We are using S4 HANA 2022 FPS01, I used this functionality "Undo deletion" in GUI, but when I tried to use the same functionality in Fiori app "Change Maintenance Order", this functionality is not available.

Can you suggest me, how to use this functionality in Fiori / Web GUI

Best regards,
