Intelligent ERP use cases in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2408

the second major release of the year is out since July 24. You certainly have read the very comprehensive release blog post from Bert Schulze.

In this blog post, which is as well part of our intelligent ERP blog post series, I'll share the key innovations with the usual focus on "intelligent technologies" like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Intelligent Scenario Lifecycle Management framework, and their added value on business processes. We will look at some use cases for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2408, delivered to the customers on July 24.

🎧SAP User Experience Update with Joule and My Home

Let's start with an innovation that is changing completely the way customers will work with SAP: of course this is Joule, our natural-language, generative AI copilot, embedded into SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. Joule is also embedded in other SAP solutions like SAP SuccessFactors, with the ambition to enrich the entire SAP portfolio. Joule is your co-pilot. Yes you are right, this has a history at SAP, for those who know and remember the former SAP Co-Pilot assistant, now brought to the next level thanks to the GenAI revolutionising technology. Joule completely changes the way users works with the system and the daily application they use: it is one click away, increases efficiency, shares insights and analytics, always in the right business context.

Simply said: Joule will support you in getting your work done faster, making every task simpler, reducing mundane tasks, and driving better business outcomes in a secure and compliant way.

After a successful early adopter program about to end, we have great news: Joule is planned to be in general availability with the next “continuous delivery” later this year. If you are interested in the implementing it: make sure to follow the enablement offering of our team (see the Wheel below for more details) as we will share exclusively the key learnings of the early adopter program with our ecosystem, like at the next Product Expert Training planned to start September 23 for our partners and SAP colleagues.

Next, I'd like to continue with the focus on the end user and present some additional SAP User Experience innovations. We have introduced "My Home" to the market with the release 2208. With the My Home in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, end users benefit from a personalised interface tailored to their needs, with important to-dos and insights readily accessible.

In this release, we offer new customers intelligent app recommendations. Those are based on several factors such as usage of the app, geography, or access. We also offer intelligent generation of pre-delivered cards.

Additionally, we support situations of the standard situations framework, as well as of the extended situations framework in the To Dos section.

💡SAP Business AI Use Cases

Let's move on to SAP Business AI. What does this term mean at all? SAP Business AI is simply SAP Artificial Intelligence built for the business, embedded into the business processes like order to cash, plan to fulfil etc. AI built-in, for your precise role, available in all line-of-business solutions. It elevates the value of the ERP process with an approach unique to the industry. In addition to the last technology, come the learnings of more than 5 decades of partnership and projects with thousands of customers, running their businesses with SAP, managing a gold mine of transactional data, master data, and more. SAP Business AI spans across the entire SAP portfolio, as depicted in this illustration.

With this release, we have embedded AI at the heart of several business processes such as Finance, Manufacturing and Project Management.

Let’s pick Finance as example, where I’d like to mention 2 innovations in beta shipment. The first one is a reporting case, that makes it possible to use generative AI to analyze and summarize the data from a cost-center-review booklet, into financial business insights supported by our digital assistant Joule

The second example is a quite specific tax configuration case for the Unites States.. It offers to leverage Gen AI in a US Tax Configuration solution powered by Joule, that massively helps reduce complexity of this exercise. This will speak to all experts is this domain, what a release...

Next on - resource management, In our Technology Industry – it is all about project management, with the imperative to optimise all kind of resources: money, time, people,.... Is this field Artificial Intelligence can massively improve business processes too, and provide a very different project management experience.

I’d like to introduce an innovation that will help all of us, and help get to a more efficient project management planning and staffing. In the new SAP Project and Resource Management, resource management is supported by a new Intelligent matching of employees, to the expected skills on the project.

Searching skilled employees for a resource request has never been easier thanks to the advanced skill match supports. This is part of beta testing as well. 

📡 Intelligent Scenario Lifecycle Management Framework Update

To close this update, I’ll dig into the Intelligent Scenario Lifecycle Management framework – short ISLM.

ISLM is a framework that allows you to perform lifecycle management operations on machine learning scenarios.

For this release, let me mention 2 scenarios. The first one is a GenAI use cases support: ISLM acts as the bridge between the application and the LLM models, and allows exploration and activation of out of the box scenarios

The second example is called "Auto enablement (turnkey) of Machine Learning use cases". As the name says, it means less manual effort, not specific knowledge needed, more outcome of the business users, when is comes to search, activation and usage of machine learning cases provided by SAP.
