
SAP key user tools can support end user to create their own cubes, queries and custom measurements. In this blog, we use sales analytics CDS View as example.
Needed Roles:
1. Open app "Custom CDS Views" and click "Create".
2. Input view name and select the scenario Analytical Cube.
3. Add the primary data source, e.g., I_BillingDocumentCube
4. If primary data source cannot cover all required value, you can add associate data source. Click "Add" -> "Associated Data Source".
5. Select associated data source.
6. Click the button "Join Condition" to add join condition if required.
7. Add join condition. E.g., Billingdocument and billingdocumentitem
8. You can define Parameter Value if parameter is required. After setting is done, check the color from red to blue. Go to tap Elements, click "Add"->"Elements".
9. Add all the elements what we need in the report.
10. Go to tap "Elements Properties". During searching each fields, check the selections are correct.
11. Go to tap "Filter", if you need some filter options, e.g., sales organization.
12. All are done, click "Check" and "Preview data".
13. Click button "Publish". Custom CDS View is completed.
14. Click tap "Next Steps" and choose button "Custom Analytical Queries".
15. Click "New" to create new query. (App "Custom Analytical Queries"). Add Query Name and Data Source which is created in the last, then click "OK".
16. Filed selection(For example, Tax Amount, Net Value, Sakes Volume Qty, Credit Memos Qty, Sales Volume, Credit Memos, Billing Document etc.,)
17. In section "Display", click "Add"->"Add Converted Measure". If the measurements only have transaction currencies, this function can convert the transaction currency to a fixed currency or be an external input.
18. Input Label and Name. Select type "Currency Conversion". Then click "OK".
19. Select value help of Target Currency.
20. You can select a fixed value.
21. You can also select User Input Filters.
22. Add Calculated Measure. This function can enable you design your own measurement using existing fields/measurements.
23. Input Expression. For example, Amount with Tax = "Net Value" - "Tax Amount", Net Quantity = "Sales Volume Qty" - "Credit Memos Qty".
24. In section "Filters", set some filters on dimension if necessary. Preview the content of custom analytical query by click "Preview" button, and you can check the preview data if it is as expected.
25. Input exchange rate type and display currency, then click Go. This query will be previewed in Web Dynpro framework.
26. Click back, page will be back to your custom query. Save draft and click "Publish".
27. To save the custom analytical report to your homepage of launchpad, click "Preview" and you can click "Save as Tile".
28. Input Tile and select a Page. Then you can open this query from your launchpad.
29. If you want to share the custom analytical report to others which means the report can be visible and accessed by authorized users. Open app "View Browser".
30.Select the custom analytical query which you created, and click "Create Application". After the application is created, you can see the Application ID available to the custom analytical query.
31. Enter Title and Subtitle, then click "OK".
32. Application is created.
33. Click the application ID link, then a popup dialog will display. Click "View in Catalog" to navigate to app "Custom Catalog Extensions".
34. Add custom analytical query to business catalogs. Click "Add"
35. Search the business catalog.
36. Select the business catalogs which you want to publish, click "Publish"
37. When the status is published, the custom analytical report should be available to the users who have been assigned the business catalogs.
38. In app finder, the custom analytical report is displayed in assigned business catalogs. You can add it to pages.
39. You can open your custom analytical report from your launchpad.
