📢👩‍💻 We (PM of the SAP S/4HANA migration cockpit) recently conducted a session on error handling within SAP S/4HANA migration cockpit. You can watch the replay using this link: SAP S/4HANA migration cockpit – finding error messages

To access the session, you will need to have an SAP Learning Hub license*. Make sure you are logged on to SAP Learning Hub before opening the URL.  In case link doesn’t open, please copy and paste into browser.

This session is especially useful for those looking to understand various methods for identifying errors that occur during data migration. Here are four key questions we address in the session

  • How can I view all messages for a single activity
  • How can I find all messages related to a specific instance
  • How can I see all instances associated with a particular message
  • How can I view all messages for a specific migration object

You’ll find detailed answers to these questions in the session. Alternatively, check our SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition cookbook🔎👩‍🍳, specifically Chapter 5.2 Different ways to check error messages.

A common question we receive is: “Can I get a list of all instances with error messages?” The answer is YES! Here’s how you can do it:

1. Choose the migration object and select “Messages”.

2. You’ll be redirected to a new screen where you can see messages and the number of instances associated with each message. For example, if you see an error message like “Area (..) cannot be used there,” you might find that 10 instances are affected.

Click on “Download Details” to get a file which can be in a text format.

3. Open the downloaded file in Excel to view the instances along with their corresponding error messages.

We hope this information proves helpful for your migration projects. Good luck!
