In my previous blog Start using ByDesign's new HTML5 client I have explained why customers should switch to our new HTML5 client as quickly as possible. In a nutshell: The HTML5 client is faster, visually more appealing and offers additional features. For example the launchpad - our quick start page - and the overview page which you can setup to provide an overview of  your most important KPIs and reports. Also, all further innovations are going exclusively into the HTML5 client, for instance the new dashboarding capabilities which we intend to release with SAP Business ByDesign 1811. Don't worry, changing from Silverlight to HTML5 is easy and more than 90% of our users have already done it. If you haven't switched yet, just watch this video and you are ready to go! Additional guidance is available here.

As already announced previously we will deprecate the Silverlight client with the release of SAP Business ByDesign 1811.

What exactly do we mean by 'deprecation'? This means that the company setting for defaulting the client to Silverlight is no longer available. Even if you had changed the default client after the 1805 upgrade back to Silverlight, this will be ignored going forward, i.e. when you launch your standard ByDesign URL you will always be directed to the HTML5 client.

Is there still a way to access the silverlight client? For now there is (see link), but we strongly recommend that you use it only if it is unavoidable. We plan to completely get rid of the Silverlight client as soon as possible.

I hope you enjoy the improved user experience with our HTML5 client!
