The Toggling Dilemma – INS & OVR in the SAP GUI !!

Hello All, 

Today, we will be discussing on an interesting Topic in my short blog :  INS, OVR Toggling (Default setting)

Ref:- 

INS:- Insert

OVR:- Overwrite 

The standard behaviour of the SAP GUI : regarding the toggling of INS & OVR in the SAP GUI is that it picks the last used setting of the GUI.

There is no process as such to make a default setting regarding the INS or OVR, we have to manually toggle between them as per our data screen requirements.

But, there is a way around to make INS or OVR (any one which you want to make default for your SAP GUI), for which, you have to tweak the Windows Registry

if,

key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\SAPGUI Front\SAP Frontend

Server\Customize\Edit.InsertMode is set to 1, then you have the INS mode; and if 0: then you are having OVR mode.

So, in this way, by tweaking the Windows Registry Settings, we can force the SAP GUI to open itself in a particular INS or OVR mode. 

After completing these steps, simply restart your SAP GUI, it will now start in the default mode, that you have tweaked in the windows registry...
