Intro:

Let us see some Information about the Monitor Material coverage app.

Overview.

Difference between MMC - Net segment vs Net / individual Segment - SAP Help, Blog, SAP HELP1

MD04 screen

Monitor Material Coverage - Net segment - Considers Planning Segments 20 and 22.

20 - An individual customer segment is created per individual customer order for make-to-order production.

22 - An individual project segment is created per project for project planning.

Here the customer stocks are not displaying as separate line items

Monitor Material Coverage - Net / Individual segment - Considers Planning Segments 20, 22 and 24.

In addition to 20 and 22, '24 - Segment is created for materials that are directly produced or procured without planning' also considered.

Some times the color field is not working. Day supply field will show how many days will the available stock can fulfill the requirements.

The color in respective fields are based on values maintained in the app Maintain Time-Dependent Stock Levels. The values are Safety days of supply, Target days of supply, Maximum days of supply.

RaghavanKathamuthu_35-1725383001157.png

Red color - No of First shortage days < SDOS - here 35 not < 10 so not applicable

Yellow color - SDOS =< No of first shortage days < TDOS - here 10= < 35 < 50 - applicable

Green color - SDOS < TDOS =< No of first shortage days - here 10 < 50 not =<  35 - NA

Click on stock availability and click check manage material coverage to see the requirements in details.

RaghavanKathamuthu_29-1725377272913.png

First shortage on - Date on which the first shortage occurs.

Here its 24.10.2024 because I have a dependent requirement on that day.

Days' Supply - It will consider stock, receipt and requirements for calculating the material shortage days as like MD04.

Days' supply = First shortage day - Current day = 24.10.2024 - 03.09.2024 = 35 days (Only working days)

You can use this link to calculate. Also took reference from Future evolution in MMC

Stock Day supply - It will consider only stocks and requirements for calculating material shortage days. Planned receipts are not considered.

Stock Day supply = First shortage day (Excluding receipt) - Current day = 24.10.2024 - 03.09.2024 = 35 days

RaghavanKathamuthu_22-1725374579882.png

Intraday Supply = Days’ Supply + Fractional Coverage on the Day of the First Shortage.

Intraday Supply = Days' supply + Stock / Requirement on shortage day

                          =  35 + 23/30 = 35 + 0.36 = 35.76 days

RaghavanKathamuthu_24-1725375852608.png

Stock Intraday Supply = Stock Days’ Supply + Fractional Coverage on the Day of the First Shortage.

No receipts are Considered

Stock Intraday Supply = Stock Days' supply + Stock / Requirement on shortage day

                          =  35 + 10 / 30 = 35 + 0.33 = 35.33 days

Time till shortage - Shortage evaluation period Link

This days value mentioned in this field will be compared with the day supply column. If the time till shortage value comes under day supply values for a materials, then it will be shown in report.

Material replenishment lead time - For F type this day field is calculated based on RLT = Purchasing processing time (OPPQ) + Planned delivery time + GR processing time

For E type this day field is calculated based on RLT = In-house production time + GR processing time or RLT = Total replenishment lead time (MRP 3 View)

Total Replenishment Lead Time - The days are calculated base on field TRLT maintained in MRP 3 view of material master.

Manual Planning Horizon - Related to Transport management Link

Safety Time - The day value is calculated based on safety time maintained in MRP 2 view. Dynamic safety stock.

Shortage Definition - used the material PPB24 for this example (Link)

Based on the prerequisites IMG configuration the system calculate the material shortage days. For example by considering the demands only or demands and supply or confirmed receipts or planned receipts. Here lets see result of the standard configurations.

MRP Standard It will consider all supplies and demands to calculate the material shortage like MD04 as per the standard configs. (Made some changes)

Manage material coverage app - This app is not a standalone. You can navigate to it only via Monitor material coverage app.

RaghavanKathamuthu_55-1725392684700.png

First Shortage day = 01.08.2024

Days' supply = First shortage day - Current day = 01.08.2024 - 03.09.2024 = -24 days

Stock Day supply = First shortage day (Excluding receipt) - Current day = 1 day (doubt)

Intraday Supply = Days' supply + Stock / Requirement on shortage day = -24 + 10/11 = -24.00 day (doubt)

Stock Intraday Supply = Stock Days' supply + Stock / Requirement on shortage day = 1 + 9/30 = 0.00 day (doubt)

Stock Day Supply - It will consider the stock and demands to calculate the material shortage as per the standard configs. No Receipts considered. PIR also not considered. You can add it by your own.

RaghavanKathamuthu_44-1725389525278.png

RaghavanKathamuthu_59-1725394685937.png

First Shortage day = 22.11.2024

Days' supply = First shortage day - Current day = 22.11.2024 - 03.09.2024 = 55 days

Stock Day supply = First shortage day (Excluding receipt) - Current day = 22.11.2024 - 03.09.2024 =  55 days

Intraday Supply = Days' supply + Stock / Requirement on shortage day = 55 + 9/30 = 55.30 days

Stock Intraday Supply = Stock Days' supply + Stock / Requirement on shortage day = 55 + 9/30 = 55.30 days

Ordered Requirements - It will consider the stock, Ordered demands and receipts to calculate the material shortage as per standard configs. No PIR demands, Dependent requirements considered

RaghavanKathamuthu_51-1725390256968.png

RaghavanKathamuthu_48-1725389634103.png

As there is no shortage every dates are 9999.

Ordered Receipts - It will considers the stock, demand and confirmed receipts to calculate the material shortage as per the standard configs. No PIR, Purchase Requisition or Planned order considered

RaghavanKathamuthu_49-1725389701988.png

RaghavanKathamuthu_60-1725394928088.png

First Shortage day = 22.11.2024

Days' supply = First shortage day - Current day = 22.11.2024 - 03.09.2024 = 55 days

Stock Day supply = First shortage day (Excluding receipt) - Current day = 22.11.2024 - 03.09.2024 =  55 days

Intraday Supply = Days' supply + Stock / Requirement on shortage day = 55 + 11/30 = 55.36 days (doubt)

Stock Intraday Supply = Stock Days' supply + Stock / Requirement on shortage day = 55 + 9/30 = 55.30 days

Note: I have expected that the Days' Supply, Stock Day supply, Intraday Supply, Stock Intraday Supply will be calculated according to the shortage definition in initial screen of MMC app. Its working inside the manage material coverage app in real time, but not in Monitor material coverage app.

I have increased the evaluation horizon of other shortage definition profiles.

RaghavanKathamuthu_36-1725387852090.png

After some times these Days' Supply, Stock Day supply, Intraday Supply, Stock Intraday Supply days were calculated respectively based on the shortage definition. Kindly share your experience if you faced any delay in this app.

Conclusion:

I hope you this may help you on understanding the Monitor Material coverage app. Please refer Link & this to have good idea on implementing the changes in it. Please clarify on (doubt) areas
