WEBDynpro - what is the future of the product?

There are many applications based on Webd, but the product's future seems uncertain. The questions are: How much time does the customer have? Which product is the appropriate new platform? Where can I find SAP notes about the future of Webdynpro? I couldn't find any information in PAM. Do you know if there is something there?

From QUORA Site:

SAP UI5 and SAP WebDynpro are both frameworks provided by SAP for developing web-based applications within the SAP ecosystem. Each framework has its own strengths and weaknesses, and the choice between them depends on various factors such as project requirements, existing skill sets, and future goals. Here are some reasons why SAP UI5 may be considered better than SAP WebDynpro in certain scenarios:

  1. Modern Web Technologies: SAP UI5 is built on modern web technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. This makes it more flexible, responsive, and easier to integrate with other web technologies and frameworks.
  2. Responsive Design: SAP UI5 applications are designed to be responsive, meaning they can adapt to different screen sizes and devices. This is essential in today's mobile-first world where users access applications on a variety of devices.
  3. Openness and Extensibility: SAP UI5 is more open and extensible compared to SAP WebDynpro. It allows developers to easily customize and extend the framework to meet specific requirements.
  4. Community Support: SAP UI5 has a larger and more active community compared to SAP WebDynpro. This means there are more resources, tutorials, and support available for developers working with SAP UI5.
  5. Integration with SAP Fiori: SAP UI5 is a core component of the SAP Fiori design language, which provides a consistent and intuitive user experience across SAP applications. Using SAP UI5 can help ensure a seamless integration with other SAP Fiori applications.
  6. Performance: SAP UI5 applications are generally considered to be more lightweight and performant compared to SAP WebDynpro applications. This can lead to better user experience and faster loading times.

However, it's important to note that SAP WebDynpro also has its own advantages, such as tight integration with SAP backend systems and a more structured development approach. The choice between SAP UI5 and SAP WebDynpro should be based on a thorough evaluation of the project requirements, existing infrastructure, and the skills of the development team.
