Knowledge enables the world to innovate. In the Digital Economy where the only certainty is change, the one source of lasting competitive advantage is knowledge. While companies are looking to keep pace with their competition, 83% of businesses say that their employees do not have the skills required for the digital age. Skills, education and lifelong learning are the key enablers for innovation adoption and form the foundation for effectively executing digital strategies.

The SAP Training & Development Institute (SAP TDI), as part of SAP Knowledge, aims to foster SAP’s position as THE thought leader for Digital Transformation, not only in regards to SAP’s solution expertise but also with respect to knowledge and skills for the digital age. The Dubai-based SAP TDI offers unique training initiatives for students and young professionals and opens up sustainable work opportunities for the unemployed youth through public-private partnerships. It operates in MENA as well as in selected fast growth markets with significant SAP-skill shortage.

Demonstrating the importance of skills for the future, the SAP TDI hosted an exclusive roundtable event on “Knowledge as Game-Changer for Digital Transformation” in Dubai on May 14th. The event has seen strong presence of industry thought leaders, e.g. from SAP's Chief Knowledge Officer, Dr. Bernd Welz; Rohan Roberts (Innovation Leader at GEMS Education and Director Dubai Science Festival); Marita Mitschein (Managing Director of the SAP Training & Development Institute) and Bertrand Andries (Head of Education EMEA at SAP).

Participants were provided with an insight on how education and skills have transformed and their significance for individuals and organizations alike to thrive in the Digital Economy. The attendees continuously exchanged interesting perceptions and experiences in an open dialog.

SAP’s Chief Knowledge Officer, Dr. Bernd Welz, demonstrated how knowledge fuels digital transformation and how digital transformation revolutionizes learning. Reaffirming that technology has an impact on education, Rohan Roberts gave the audience an enlightening keynote and stated boldly “Whatever the question is, Education is the answer”. Marita Mitschein inspired the attendees on how SAP takes youth unemployment seriously with the success story of the SAP TDI.
