On September 16 to 18, the global SAP community for up-, mid- and downstream met at Best Practices for Oil & Gas 2019 in The Woodlands, Texas. Examining all areas of the hydrocarbons industry, the conference offered valuable networking opportunities, deep business insights and excellent speaker tracks. The latter included the inspirational key note speeches “Change Is The New Norm” by peter.maier and “Thriving In The New Era Of Automation” by bbeberness and Jürgen Eisele. For us at Implico, BPOG 2019 also marked a brilliant chance to underline our position as thought leader of digital transformation in downstream. In the following, I would like to introduce you to the top 5 highlights from Implico’s conference program.

Supply Chain United

With a new concept of applications and web services dedicated to the downstream industry, we continue to expedite the digitalization of the supply chain. By combining cutting-edge SAP technology with our unique know-how of downstream logistics, we will provide oil and gas companies with new ways to connect their partners and customers.

SAP Cloud Platform

My conversations with other downstream experts further confirmed this: The future of our industry’s supply chain lies in cloud and connectivity. A seamless integration of the SAP Cloud Platform grants all trading partners easy, flexible and ongoing access to our solutions and services. While cloud intelligence connects all actors – driver, depot, customer – in advance, open architecture supports the integration of any system or partner.

SAP Co-Innovation & Model Company

Our long, successful partnership with SAP is an important pillar of our ongoing success. With “Connected Customer”, “Connected Truck” and “Connected Depot” we have three promising co-innovations in the making. Additionally, we have also worked closely with SAP in the design of the SAP Model Company for Oil & Gas. It has most processes of a downstream enterprise already set up as best practices. This simplifies and quickens the implementation efforts significantly, leaving companies with vast resources to focus on the things that really count for them.

S/4HANA

Recently, we updated the SAP solutions for secondary distribution management and service station management to version 2.0. It is optimized for the in-memory database technology SAP S/4HANA, which processes data nearly 300 times faster than before. This accelerates the processes and operations of downstream companies significantly, giving them direct business benefits.

Implementation of SAP Secondary Distribution and Fuels Retailing

Within the SAP environment, the standard for downstream process automation is SAP Secondary Distribution and Fuels Retailing (consisting of SAP S/4HANA SDM and SAP S/4HANA RFNO). At BPOG 2019, we showcased the fully integrated end-to-end solution at our stand on the show floor and on stage during our customer dialogue with Groupe F. Dufresne.
