UPDATE: This Techtoberfest Fun Friday event is now officially over - as you may remember (from the description below) we left this open the entire week, ending Sunday 7 October in whatever timezone you are. So as now that date has officially passed us by, we have counted up all the entries and badges will be awarded within the week. Thank you so much for all the great pictures! It was interesting to see everyone's tech setup!
Last week was all about pets, this week is all about tech setups! Use this opportunity to show off your coding setup. This could be your desk, office, or even your favorite development tools (I personally want to see everyoneβs favorite VS Code extensions).
To participate, you only need to complete the following steps.
Step 1: Take a picture or screenshot of your development setup. This could be your desk with your favorite knickknacks, your office and how you arrange your room for various purposes, your computer screen showing how you arrange your windows for optimal coding efficiency, or even just your favorite coding extensions or tools that help you develop better code.
Step 2: Post that picture in the comments of this discussion post before EOD October 6th. If youβve already posted the picture elsewhere, feel free to link that in the comments.
Step 3 (optional): Peruse the rest of the pictures to get ideas on how you might want to update your own setup.
Be as creative or relaxed as you want, the only thing thatβs important is that you have fun.
Personally, I like to have a mobile setup so I can work from whichever seat the wind blows me to that day. I went ahead and shared four of my favorite VS Code extensions in the comments below so check that out if you need some inspiration.
Note: You are not restricted to only post during Friday, October 4th. This is open the entire second week of Devtoberfest, from September 30th through October 6th. We will award points and badges after that time.
Have fun and show us how you code!

It is a light. It illuminates the desk without reflecting on the screen.

Well, the tools that I use most when developing are divided into two screen:
When I need to work with BTP, Postman or another tool I can use a third screen.

This is my workspace. It may look a bit cluttered, but this is where all the ABAP magic happensβthough the real clutter is inside this setup!
My laptop is the heart of my operations, running an instance of ABAP AS 7.52 SP04 almost all the time. I frequently use it to test solution designs for my work, especially when I need to experiment with different approaches. Recently, Iβve been diving into the basics of SAP CAP (Cloud Application Programming), using Docker containers alongside Visual Studio Code.
For my main work setup, things get a bit more complex. I connect via WireGuard to a mini-server (the small black box under my Bowser and Marty McFly figures). On this server, I run a Docker container with the ABAP Cloud Developer Trial 2022, as well as a VMware VM hosting IDES EhP8. My primary work machine operates from here as a VirtualBox VMβthis setup gives me the isolation and flexibility I need.
In my off-hours, I enjoy experimenting with integrating services from these demo servers using SAP Cloud Connector.
The second photo shows my Stream Deck, loaded with all my current shortcuts. Itβs been a game-changer, especially for learning and quickly accessing the most common shortcuts in ADT Eclipse.
Iβve been working from home since 2019, and that explains the rest of my setupβmicrophone, and all the other gear I need to stay connected and productive!

my setup: 2 hi-res screens so all text is sharp. Touchpad on the left (if you can even see it), mouse on the right. ADT for ABAP, and VS Code for Fiori/ui5. And lots and lots of browser screens & windows, at times arranged in tab groups..

A cluttered desk, a minimalist setup, or a well-accessible workspace.

Hereβs a peek into my current work-from-home setup. I love having a dual-screen arrangement to boost productivity. It helps me keep my code on one screen while having documentation, emails, or test outputs on the other. My workspace may be compact, but it's optimized for efficiency with all my essentials within reach.
