Hi All,

which factors to be considered if the CPU load average of 5 mins, 10 mins and 15 mins increases in ST06?

* 5 mins,10 mins & 15 mins load average says what?

* what should be their optimum value.

* what should be the allowed value of 5 mins, 10 mins & 15 mins load average in CPU utilization?

* what value should be worried?

I would appreciate all your help.

Thanks in advance

Hi Daniel basis,

Your SAP system is running, in that case it has occupied some CPU value. Now depending on the users login peak hours or say long running jobs, the CPU usage goes Up or Down. Generally 80% of resource utilization is considered as Warning Yellow & 90% utilization is considered as Red as in Severe. So, you see it depends on how much resource you have. So basically below the warning value is fine. That is why we ask the functional guys to run their long running jobs at Non-operational hours to avoid peak CPU crunches. Hence on our daily monitoring task it becomes a part to point the top CPU utilization time & analyse the same, if needed

Hope this does answer your query or let know if anything more specific you need

Thanks,

Kaushik

Hi Daniel

CPU load average is the number of processes ( program run by the operating system ) that were waiting for a CPU or core to be available to run.

1 and above means that the CPU ( all it's cores or all the CPUs ) where busy doing something else and 1 process or more ( maybe an ABAP program or transaction or db operation, what ever ) could not be run when required and had to wait. If this happens occasionally, it is ok, but if it stays like this for a longer time ( this would be seen in the 5, 10, 15 min averages ) it means the system requires more CPU.

Hope it helps.

Hi Rafael,

Do you want to say it should not exceed the value 1 for 5 mins, 10 mins and 15 mins?

How to check the history value and exceeded 1?

Please answer.
