How to change language by different system?

Hi Basis Guru,

There are multi systems in SAP.

I want to change language to one of the systems by that system's options:

After I log off and log on again, the language keeps the same. not changed.

The only way I can do is the language change at SAP application level:

But it applies to all SAP systems.

I gather it is some settings related to Basis.

Please kindly help me.

Sally

Hi SS,

Thank you for your feedback.

I can not follow it well.

Basically what I want is SAP GUI language setting is independent on SAP system default language(diagram 1 and 2).

I can not find the file C:\usr\sap\<<SID>>\SYS\profile.

If possible, please help me how.

Thank you so much,

Sally

Hello,

as you are pointing to the SAP Logon settings I guess you want to change the language for your user only. Right?

Did you try setting the language in your own user profile? Transaction SU3 > tab "Defaults" > "Logon language".

Of course the language has to be installed in the system. Maybe you can check this in transaction SMLT (where a tree for 'ZH' is necessary) or via checking the profile parameter zcsa/installed_languages (you can use transaction RSPFPAR or programs RSPFPAR or RSPARAM for this). The profile parameter value shows the language in a 1-Byte representation, I think '1' is used for Chinese.
If the language is not installed, a fallback to the system default language will be done at login.

If the language is installed in the system and you have set the logon language for your own user in the system, a login via SSO should work as you can expect. In a password based login via login screen you still will be faced with the preset logon language (according to the profile parameter zcsa/system_language or your personalt setting in the SAPLogon, valid for all systems). If you delete the value, the setting in SU3 will be used. So in that case there is not a real benefit.

Hi SS,

Thank you so much for your reply.

I followed it like below:

But after I log in, it is English, which is the same as SAP GUI's setting.

Pls kindly help further,

HI SS,

Yes the language package has been installed.

My workaround in case I want to use ZH instead of SAP GUI's default Languge-EH is:

I break the SNC and use my ID and password to log in before I manually change the language.

Thank you,

Sally
