[Intro] This is the SAP Developer News for October 23rd, 2025.
[Ajay] Everyone. Have you ever heard about Innersource? It is the practice of applying open source methodologies, culture, and best practices to the in-house software development. SAP is co-hosting and co-organizing the Innersource Summit in Berlin this year. If you want to know more about it, it is a great opportunity for you. The InnerSource Summit 2025 will take place on November 13th, 2025 across Berlin, Yokohama, and New York. It is hosted by SAP, Mitsubishi Electric, and IBM. The agenda is filled with topics about open-source-inspired collaborations, InnerSource analytics, state of InnerSource in the industry, measuring cross-team collaboration, scientific research about InnerSource, and much more. Join the event in person on-site or virtually online. Check the blog post by Gillyherme to find the agenda and how to get the tickets. Links will be available in the description below.
[DJ] Here is an important item for users of the SAP BTP trial account landscape. It concerns the Cloud Foundry runtime specifically. Owing to a high amount of misuse of this part of the platform, the offering for the Cloud Foundry runtime will be drastically restricted for the time being. The main difference for us is that for this period we won't be able to deploy to a CF runtime. Remember, this is regarding the trial landscape only. We strongly advise you to check out Karen Burke's blog post and stay tuned to that for updates. You can also, of course, ask questions there as comments on that blog post if you need to. Link to the blog post is in the description.
[Witalij] As the Devtoberfest first concludes, we hope you joined the sessions on SAP Business Data Cloud, including the architectural deep dive led by the product CTO. While Bjorn delivered a comprehensive overview, the 30-minute format limited the depth of the coverage for key topics such as data products, BW and BDC, or SAP Databricks, but each of which was explored in dedicated sessions earlier this month. Refer to the dedicated blog post for additional insights on Business Data Cloud Connect. BDC Connect is a newly launched service designed to facilitate secure, bi-directional, and zero-copy data product sharing between SAP BDC and external partner systems. Early adopters include Databricks and Google Cloud. Nedel Eduardo provides a detailed walkthrough in a separate post for technical specifics on provisioning BDC Connect. We look forward to seeing you at SAP TechEd on tour and virtually in November, where hands-on workshops will offer practical experience with these advancements. Stay tuned for more.
[Kevin] Hey everybody, if you are a mobile developer, kit developer building cross-platform applications for mobile devices, I got good news for you. The team just released the MDK MCP server on GitHub. It's open source and you can easily install it via NPM on your local machine. You can use the MCP server from out of Klein or GitHub Copilot to not only bootstrap new MDK applications but also enhance your existing ones with new features. It has a port for access to the MDK CLI tools. So you have the whole tool set at your fingertips to build great mobile applications. If you want to find out more, there is a blog post in the community explaining all the details and linking to all the additional resources for you. As always, you can find the link to the blog post in the description of our news video.
[Tom] As this episode of the developer news reaches you, we're nearing the end of Devtoberfest. It's been a great four weeks and I hope that you've enjoyed the time and learned a lot. But you know what the end of Devtoberfest means — the start of SAP TechEd. Whether you plan to join us in person in Berlin, on the virtual platform, or at one of the many TechEd on tour stops around the world, we look forward to bringing you TechEd. Our team at the Developer Advocates is busy getting ready for the developer garage, hands-on workshops, community talks, as well as, of course, the developer keynote. We can't wait to show you all the great new things that are planned for this year, and we look forward to seeing you at TechEd.
