RFC failure from Commerce Cloud to On-Premise ECC

Commerce Cloud CCV2: V2105

On-Premise ECC

VPN Tunnel established

When executing the "ping" from backoffice, I am getting the following errors.:

Ping for RFC destination DriveSapRFCDestination failed

Initialization of destination XXX failed: Connect from SAP gateway to RFC server failed

connection parameters: TYPE=A DESTINATION=XXX ASHOST=X.X.X.X SYSNR=00 PCS=1

We have NAT'd both sides of the VPN Tunnel.

I have posted a ticket to SAP but so far not much help or suggestions for a solution.

Looking for options/directions to address this issue.

We had the same issue and this is how we resolved it:

The error we were getting when we try to ping the RFC is something similar to the following:

Initialization of destination <rfcDestinationName> failed:
Connect from SAP gateway to RFC server failed connection parameters:
TYPE=A DESTINATION=<rfcDestinationName> ASHOST=<NAT_IP_OF_ERP> SYSNR=01 PCS=1
LOCATION SAP-Gateway on host <ERP_GATEWAY_DOMAIN_NAME> / sapgw01

We defined an host alias on CCV2 panel as following

<NAT_IP_OF_ERP> <ERP_GATEWAY_DOMAIN_NAME>

Then for the build configuration, we set defined host alias

You need to trigger a new deployment to activate hosts definition. After deployment, we changed the RFC destination IP with Gateway host. After that, RFC ping worked successfully.
