EEWB or AXTSYS?

I understand from a colleague that I should be using AXTSYS to create my new fields. Previously I have been using EEWB.

I have a number of questions regard AXTSYS though, as I've never used it. Firstly, does anyone have a guide/docuemnt on AXTSYS.

Secondly, does it give full control of where you create any nerw fields?. For example, when I created a new field using teh EEWB and the BUPA structure it created the new field okay, but when I attempted to place in the assignment block using the UI tool I found that the new field was held under the HEADER context node rather than the STANDARDADDRESS context node. Can I assume that there is some control over this when using AXTSYS?

I attempted to use AXTSYS but it will not accept my Z package name, even though it does exist and has been previously used. Has anyone hit this same problem. I think this tool is troubled anyway because when I enter * and F4 in against the Package I get nothing and yet when I just hit F4 I can see all the packages, including the one that I want to use. So, once selectingthe correct Package I can not get past the next to fields and Save.

Any help wouuld me greatly appreciated.

Jason,

BP is still not fully integrated into AET. There are still some objects that needs to be integrated. I hope it's AXTREG and not AXTSYS.

Hi,

Account can only be enhanced on the header level.

When you start AET from config tool, you will get AET Overview Page that shows enhanced Object Account.

When you now create new field, you have to select an enhanced object part.

In the selection list, you will see only BUT000, which is the header.

In your case, although you start the config tool by selecting the address assignment block. It does not mean, that you enhance the address.

Hi,

In CRM 7.0 you can use either EEWB or AET to create new field. We recommend the customer to create field with AET, because it is the successor of EEWB.

Because AET is more well integrated in the CRM WebUI Framework compared to EEWB.

EEWB can only be used from SAP GUI and AET can only be used from WebUI.

AXTSYS is only a customizing transaction to use AET. In AXTSYS you can only define the default package and prefix of enhancement ID.

To create new field, you have to go to WebUI. Please find more details about how to use AET in the following http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/elearn?rid=/library/uuid/509a21a9-24be-2b10-d39b-de4c6b3fc222

AET gives you control where you create your new field. Unfortunately, you enhance Account using AET, you can only enhance the Header. However, if you enhance Sales Order using AET, you can choose whether you want to create new field in Header or in Item.

That's of great help Steve.

I have been using the AET to create new fields, which is simple, however, I have noticed that when I attempt to add code to the methods of the new fields using the BSP_WD_CMPWB tranx I discover that the field always seems to placed in the wrong context node. For example, I added a new field (BUPA) to the Address/communication assignment block of the Accounts screen. There are two context nodes, being the HEADER and STANDARDADDRESS.

I have a field (COUNTRY) which when update I need to populate this new field. I therefore have code in the SET_COUNTRY method, but of course the field I net to SET data in is in HEADER context node, so for me there are some technical difficulties.

If the COUNTRY field and the new field were in the same context node it would be easy to achieve.

I'm no objects expert, as I'm sure you can tell, but do seem to have more questions t;han answers at the moment.

With regards

Jason
