Hi All,

Can you tell me CRM 6.0 and above are based on which technology. I attended an internal training in my company where they covered CRM 5.0 and they said CRM 6.0 and above are also based on BSP.

But our onsite team reported that CRM 7.0 is based on webdynpro ABAP technology. My client is implementing CRM 7.0 so i am gathereing the details.

Can anybody clarify this.

Thanks in advance

Regards

Supriya.

Hi,

the main UI technology in CRM 5.1 and above is based on BSP.

However Webdynpro is also available but not used for the CRM scenario.

There is quite a big leap in UI technology from CRM 5.0 to 5.1. Until 5.0 only the CIC used the BSP frontend as IC WebClient. Since 5.1 SAP changed the main CRM frontend. It is now based on BSP and no longer SAP GUI.

As explained by Carsten,

it is complete BSP based, to support it, you could take any component name (open in BSP_WD_CMPWB), and the same component can be opened in SE80 as BSP application. So, any compoenent you display on UI is internally a BSP application (reverse is not true through)

Carsten, please correct me if i m wrong

Thanks,

Rohit

Hi Carsten,

Thanks for ur reply.

Even CRM 7.0 is also based on BSP technology or based on webDynpro ABAP technology.

Thanks

Supriya,

CRM 5.1 onwards i.e. 5.2, 6.0, 7.0 use the SAME BSP technology. As mentioned above, major technology change was adapted from 5.1 version, and from then onwards it is being refined, but underlying technology remains to be BSP.

Thanks,

Rohit

Okay Folks since this is a simple question, here's my attempt as the timer has popped out on this turkey of a question.

1) CRM 51 and above(52, 6.0, 7.0, 7.0 Ehp1) is based on a technology called "Webdynpro for BSP". This is also known as the CRM Webclient UI framework. This technology is a natural evolution of the IC webclient technology first introduced in CRM 4.0 and also found in CRM 5.0.

CRM does not use the Webdynpro for ABAP, even though it is an ABAP based application. Down the road SAP may change this, however if you look at the UI strategy roadmap for SAP the CRM Webclient UI is considered one of the key technologies but only for CRM.

2) ABAP Stack vs Java Stack

Once again ABAP stack refers to the ABAP application server. The java stack refers to the java application server. Most of CRM requires an ABAP stack, while some scenarios like e-commerce need a java stack.

Thank you,

Stephen
