What will be the implications in Hybris if the customer data are not being manage in Hybris (e.g CRM)? BTG module won’t work at all???? Any thoughts?

The answer depends on some of the factors as follows:
Which version of Hybris you are using e.g. BTG module has been deprecated in the latest version of Hybris and it is planned to be removed soon (Ref: https://help.hybris.com/1808/hcd/8bb15ed586691014a948d1553f4947cf.html ). So, instead of BTG, we can say that personalization will not work.
Which business you are using Hybris for e.g. in case of B2B, many actions like administration, approval, management etc. and customer dependent processes e.g. quotation will be impacted. You can check https://help.hybris.com/1808/hcd/8c0b8e288669101498e4842bd8b36d26.html to list down some of the things that will be impacted in B2B.
There are many customer dependent things (e.g. promotion, coupon, cart, checkout, order, wishlist, customer review, subscription etc.), common to almost every typical business that is run on Hybris and all these will be impacted.
If you are using Hybris for Customer Service module and/or ASM, the business will be impacted in this area as well.
In summary, you can plan to master customer records in CRM but the same need to be replicated to your Hybris application for it to perform the basic functions of the business.
