What is the purpose of 'Lock section' button in hybris backoffice ?

I can see a lock button near advanced search when logged in as warehouse manager role, but cannot see it in admin. Can anyone please explain what is this for ?

The lock button in the Hybris backoffice allows the warehouse manager to lock the item, preventing any changes to the item. This is useful if the warehouse manager needs to make sure no one else is able to modify the item while they are working on it.
