What does the Data Protection Level option in field creation do?

Hello experts

So there's this new option in field creation called Data Protection Level. Can anyone explain to me what it does? There are two options: Personal Data and Sensitive Personal Data. What happens if I choose the first one, the second one? I don't see much documentation on this yet. If you have a link to an article, can you share?

Thanks

Hi Denmar,

This field is created in accordance with the Data protection and privacy rules. To directly answer your question, here's an excerpt from the help documentation:

  • Personal Data: If you select this option, the following happens:
    • The content of the field is destroyed when the corresponding business object instance is removed using the data removal process
    • The change log is removed
    • The field becomes valid for data disclosure
  • Sensitive Personal Data: Whenever these fields are viewed by an end user, a Read Access Log (RAL) entry is created.
