Hey,
Following is very simplified call flows and the flow of course depends on your configuration:
When call is not recorded the stream is like:
PSTN <-> WebRTC proxy <-> Client
in case of recording(&Conference) we add MRS to the chain:
PSTN <-> MRS <-> WebRTC proxy <-> Client
SIP Bridge(s) could be added as well, but that's not handling stream and instead doing stream endpoint communication (=who are the endpoints).
