Hi Folks,
I have some questions related to web channel. We are upgrading CRM 5.0 to 7.0 Ehp 2. B2B E-commerce scenario was implemented thereby allowing partner to create sales order in webshop and using product catelogue
1. Is web channel still supported by SAP? As per below link it is discontinued since Oct 2013. SAP Web Channel Experience Management (discontinued since Oct 2013) - CRM - SCN Wiki
2. Also as per upgrade guide Web channel is not a part of standard SAP CRM solution. What is the alternate solution to web channel? Because partners are used to B2B web channel (E-commerce) and this process cannot be discontinued from business perspective.
3. Hybris is not in scope. Is it advisable to use web channel?

Nikhil

Hi Nikhil,
Please find the response below point wise
1. Web Channel is supported and upgraded from CRM 5.0 to 7 EHP 3.0 (Only further work enhancement work is discontinued) by SAP and will be supported by 2020.
2. SAP Web Channel is very much SAP Standard Solution.
3. It's depend upon you and customer's choice but can be used.
Thanks,
Hamendra

Hi Hamendra,
1. As per first point, do you mean that SAP will not come up with improvements in web channel but current version is workable?
2. Will it be possible to use Product catalog and other implemented functionality of CRM 5.0 in CRM 7.0 with little custom?
3. Does Web Channel Experience Management require?
Regards,
Nikhil
Hi Nikhil,
There is no new development in WCEM. There are WCEM2.0 WCEM3.0 and WCEM3.0 SP01 and all are stable.
Any ISA implementation can not be reused in WCEM as WCEM bases on JSF framework. Specific and customized ABAP function modules called by ISA can be reused in WCEM but some adoptions/ changes have to be done. WCEM recommends to use MDM catalog but TREX catalog is feasible as well(with reduced functionality in comparison to MDM). WCEM requires CRM EHP1, details can be found in thte WCEM installation guide.
Best regards,
Steffen
