Update of Record Details after Double Opt-in Subscription

Hello Team,

We are using a SAP Marketing 2020 on prem version, where we have created a form with details like name, email, Industry fields and Permission element with type Subscription Double Opt-in. After form submission 'Pre-subscribe to Newsletter' interaction is recorded and a record is created with only email address and all other fields are empty.

After user confirms by clicking on confirmation link, interaction 'Subscribe to Newsletter' is recorded and I expect other details should get updated after this stage. Is my understanding correct? Please note the user's marketing permission is opt-out at all stages.

The issue is even after the user has subscribed to Newsletter, only email is present and not the other details.Kindly advise with the correct system behaviour please.

Regards,
Pushpak

Hi Pushpak,

your understanding and the system behavior are correct. As soon as the Contact submits your form, only the relevant communication data like email address is visible in the system.

After confirming via Double Opt-In the other data that has been submitted with the form is also displayed.

Remember: if the general email permission is set to Opt-Out but the Newsletter Subscription is Opt-In, the Subscription by default gets overruled by the email Opt-Out (subscription is displayed as Opt-Out with an "i"; on the Database it is still Opt-In). This behavior could be adapted using a BAdI.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you need further input.

Hello schneidert,

Thanks for your reply.

For this particular scenario where I have a landing page with Permisison of type Subscription double opt-in. Will all the details like name etc. get populated after user confirms double opt-in for subscription? (Permission for marketing opt-in is implicit opt-out and haven't been touched)

Regards,
Pushpak
