I'm implementing a new VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) program for fasteners. We are planning to switch to expense for these items and thus not maintaining MRP inventory. We still need to be able to generate Pick Tickets for these parts. Is there a way to generate Pick Tickets without having inventory or do we need to continue to track inventory in some capacity in SAP, so that Pick Tickets can be generated by the system?
If we still need to maintain inventory in SAP, how do you handle this since a formal Receiving Process is being replaced by VMI? Do we do a mass update of inventory, is there a setting in SAP to just always show a constant inventory quantity even after a Pick Ticket has been completed or can we setup EDI that will communicate inventory levels?
Thanks,
Neil
