With the release of 1905, the release notes seem to imply that only Oracle JRE/JDK 11 is the supported implementation.
If this is the case, then I presume any customer wishing to deploy 1905 into a production environment will need to seek a Java SE subscription?
It is also not clear which JDK implementation is used in the Commerce Cloud Portal when 1905 is deployed. I've yet to deploy it, but I can check this in the hac after a successful deployment I suppose.
Does anyone else know if the release notes are simply not correct?
Also, is there any support for SAP's own OpenJDK build (i.e. SAP Machine)?
Request clarification before answering.
There's another thread discussing the issue: https://answers.sap.com/questions/12772002/sap-jvm-for-sap-commerce-1905.html
My understanding is that SAP JVM is intended for many more SAP systems that can't be ported to Java 11 (e.g. application servers), hence SAP JVM will stick with Java 8 for quite a while (if not forever).
