This has to do with the update , Once you platform update by keeping the top 4 checked and updating all the smartedit related extension you will have the modes.

We have some javascript optimizations tasks and we deleted one of javascript which was related to smartedit.

What are the errors in browser console? You may check them in developer tools (F12) We can help you trouble shoot with the errors
