Hi,
I'm testing text message configuration with SAP Mobile Services.
I have defined a Sender Profile with a Sender Name and ticked overwrite names

In my received Text message on Belgian mobile number, I've noticed that the sender is a standard number XXXX
I tested on a French mobile number and it's another number. But my 'sender name' doesn't appeared?
Is it possible?
Thanks

Hi Catherine,
I have worked with several clients where there names come on the sender name when receiving the SMS in Mobile and for some it did not, multiple reasons one of which vervinckt.joyca has explained well above the other reason you may not see is due to country limitation where just by changing the sender name from SAP will not reflect the name in actual sms as the countries require the names also to be maintained upfront, I am not sure of the actual rule but I have seen this in one of the clients where we found out while working with SAPDI that this was a limitation.
However, the same message when sent to a number outside of the country was working as expected and the sender names were perfectly visible without any issue but were not reflecting correctly in that country only.
As for your issues: Please check the following.
The first is to register the number/short code to send message- Check if you are using dedicated or shared.
also, please note that the sender name you put should not be more than 9 or 11 characters this is not a limitation from SAP but from Telco side and the varies from country to country so safe bet is to put 9 characters(try without space) if you put any sender name longer than 11 it will not be reflected and the messages will be sent with default name which is maintained at sender profile level or registered for short code.
So in a nutshell you need to work with your SAP DI team to get this clarified as to what changes are possible for your system in this case, also if they are always sent from the short code you have registered and not from a shared one in that case you will see the same scenario which is explained above that multiple vendors using same numbers to send sms.
Thanks

Hi Catherine,
I don't think you can name a phone number in any way (so also not with the Sender Profile).
I noticed with SAP MS that indeed all of my test sends seemed to come from a different phone number (even within the same mobile nr in the same country), there seems to be a pool of sending numbers on the SAP MS side.
But this is the same in other cases, e.g. for an SMS ticket on the Belgian public transport busses, I always get that from a different phone number.
Or sometimes I even get an SMS from different companies on the same number. e.g. Two-factor-autentication SMS'es from Waze, MailChimp, Steam, Microsoft and even AirBnb messages are all coming from the same phone number. So you could't name that one phone number as multiple companies share it.
Hope this helps,
Kr
