Hello, everyone,
I want to set up a segmentation in the SAP Marketing Cloud with which I can filter out the accounts that have bought a product in a certain product category.
For this purpose I set up the following segmentation tree, Contacts > Interaction Type = Sales Order > Product Category.
When I check these contacts, I find in the results also people who have only looked at a product in this category and have not bought it. I have set the filter Sales Order and then the category in the segmentation and I have assumed that all contacts who have bought a product of this category will be displayed. (Which apparently is not the case)
Is there a possibility to explicitly search for a purchase of a product of product category X?
Do I have a mistake in my thinking or can I not filter for a specific purchase in the Marketing Cloud? No, only contacts who made a purchase and had any interaction with this product category.
Thanks for your help.
With best regards,
Lisa

Thanks Tobias for your answer. That's what I thought at first too. Through the interactions I was able to check the results for the most part, but I can't make a usable target group out of it to send an email or see the exact number of contacts.
I found a solution by sending a ticket to SAP. I had different data sources for the attributes and then the segmentation rule changed. That means it was correct that I was shown contacts that had a purchase and interaction with the product category. After I adjusted the attributes in the segmentation and used the same data sources, the correct contacts were displayed. (Who had a purchase of a product of a certain category)

Hi Lisa,
I think the contacts you see are all contacts that have the interaction type Sales Order OR have any interaction where your product category X is assigned. That's why you see also contacts that have had a look at a product category.
So if I'm right you have to use the segmentation profile All Interactions for your use case.
