Dear Community Experts,

I have a few questions based on the recent announcements at #SAPHIRENOW

Is SAP C/4 HANA only a cloud offering ?

What happens to my SAP CRM or S4CRM if I plan to buy C/4 ?

Technically will S/4 and C/4 use the same data platform.

Thank You,

Kabir

Google -> C/4HANA

Top link is SAP's own page. It says C/4 is a suite and underneath it are listed 5 Cloud products. From this I gather Cloud is the only option. SAP have been openly Cloud-forward for a while already, so it's hardly a surprise. Also everything these days is cloud, cloud, cloud.

By the way, if you stay on that page for a few seconds, the annoying "wanna chat?" pop-up will surely show up. If you're truly interested this might be one of the rare cases when it's actually helpful.

Few links down on Google search is this Everything you need to know article. While it's very far from being "everything", it does say "Those five clouds make up SAP C/4HANA, but what makes it a suite is that it has one data model."

Both S4 and C4 have HANA in the name, so that kind of answers the platform question.

I'm not sure what you're calling S4CRM. If you have SAP CRM I'm guessing it's the same deal as with SAP ECC vs. S/4. Different product, different license, etc. Not sure if the existing customers will get some sort of a discount. SAP is notoriously secretive about licensing fees, so you'd only get an accurate answer from your SAP representative.

Disclaimer: I don't represent SAP, this is just basic logic applied to common knowledge. I trust SAP will eventually post some kind of official FAQ. It's just been announced at SAPPHIRE and everyone at Waldorf is probably taking 2 months of vacation, as they do in Europe, so give it some time.
