Hello dear experts,
Is there currently any other difference between SAP Marketing and SAP Marketing Cloud except of the speed of innovation? Eg some functionality will never be possible in the Cloud etc?
Thank you,
Alex.

Hi Alex,
Ideally there is no difference between features of Marketing OnPrem vs Marketing Cloud. However there are few things which are easier in cloud vs in OnPrem or versa.
1 good example is, Generating UIs for custom Business Object. In cloud every thing is enabled by default but in OnPrem it is currently not possible to generate the UI for custom BO. Similarly the concept of Communication Arrangement is much easier in Cloud then RFC based concept in OnPrem.
But at the same time OnPrem environment gives you a lot more flexibility in terms of implementation and support due to access to backend tables, HANA.
Please also refer https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2644214 for detail.
Thanks

Hi Alex,
I would not be able to detail all the differences but the documentation (help.sap.com) might help if you are looking for some specific information.
To put it in a nutshell, the differences between the two flavors of SAP Marketing (on Premise and Cloud) is like the difference between buying and renting an apartment.
On one hand, when you buy (on Premise), you own the apartment. It means you can change the walls, the windows, the plumbing... almost anything. But you are also responsible of the maintenance. If you need a new roof, you must take care of it.
On the other hand, when you rent (Cloud), you can change the colors of the walls, change some furniture but you are limited. The good news is that the owner (SAP) is responsible of the maintenance (and upgrade). So you don't have to think about the roof.
For example, the authorization concept is less open on Cloud that it might be on Premise. However, we tend to adopt strategies that fit most customers.
I hope it answers your question.
