SAP Marketing Cloud Proceed To Deploy Time Schedule

Yesterday afternoon I started the "proceed to deploy" process on our quality tenant. The info said it would take up to 24 hours to transfer the configuration to production. However, it seems like the import in the p system is not finished:

The "deployed on" column is currently empty and I am not yet able to create an employee with the initial technical user for the production system: "Determination of Business Partner Role for category BUP003 failed". This page describes that the issue is caused because there is not yet a configuration on the p system.

So my question at the moment is if there is anything wrong with the deployment or if it just takes some more time?

Hi hackbu,

at the moment we're in the two-week-upgrade phase of the 2011 release.

It is not possible to transport any configuration or extensibility from Q to P. So maybe this may cause the problem.

In addition to that, as mentioned in the Onboarding Guide, the provisioning of the production tenant can take up to one week.

Hey schneidert,

is there any time schedule when the upgrade is finished? Is it at the end of next week?
Do we have some page to check the status or something like that?

And in regards to our configuration transfer...
Do you know if our transfer is automatically continued when the upgrade is through or will we need to transfer everything again?

Thanks for the assist.

Hi hackbu,

yes, upgrade will be finished at the end of next week.

No, usually you will get an email when the upgrade is finished.

To be honest, I never had a case like yours because it's the first transport together with ordering the P-tenant. I would have expected that the ordering wouldn't work at all. I only know that the Q and P have always to be on the same release.

So I think this is a very special case and you have to wait until you get some messages (maybe till next weekend) and check the Manage Your Solution app if there are some updates.

Don't hesitate to come back here if there are some issues. But let's hope that it will continue and work without any problems 🙂

Hey schneidert,

thanks for the information. The upgrade plan helps to understand it better. So the plan shows 3 weeks. Is the current week equal the second week of the plan?

Yes. I think the timing was quite unlucky. So the production tenant initial user was sent to us on 23.10. and I started the "proceed to deploy" process in the afternoon of the 04.11. - at this moment nothing was blocked so I just started it. Now it seems like the configuration was exported from the q system but not imported in the p system. So I am really curious how it looks like when the upgrade is through...

Hey hackbu,

exactly. The first Saturday marked in red was October 31st in that release.

Really strange, I would have expected that the configuration and transporting is blocked completely in that upgrade time.

Let's wait what will be the outcome. Think it will work, so don't worry 🙂

That's something that usually only happens to you once, and from today you'll always have a look at the time schedule 😉
