I wanted to create some quick form and landing page to test our double opt-in process. Usually, the double opt-in process will be triggered via API, however, for some testing of the email sendout I wanted to create a corresponding landing page.
So I created the form with a email input, a permission element (set to double opt-in) and a confirmation button. I embedded this form in a landing page and published it.
When I entered the email of a contact into the input and confirmed it, I received the confirmation mail. However, when I confirmed the mail (opt-in), the permission was not updated for the contact which I had expected. The one I had expected to update had the email address I entered as origin. Instead, a new contact with the same mail was created and updated with the permission info.
In our system, emails should be unique. Therefore, the EMAIL origin is maintained as "One per contact" and "For identification" is set to "Yes".
Do you understand why there was no matching contact found? Do I still need further data in the form even though the origin is maintained as "For identification"?
Thanks for the help.

Hi Christian,
good to hear that it works. That would have been my first uess as well. In that case you described (multiple contacts are found during the import) the system behavior was correct and a new Contact is created 🙂
The only other option in my opinion could have been a setting for another Origin that prevented the Contacts from merging.

I used some new contact and retried. It seems like I had multiple contacts with the same email address (probably before we made changes to our origin construct). After making sure the email is only present for one contact, the permission was set correctly...
I keep the question open for some more time in case of any input.
