Hello dear experts,
Could you please comment what is the actual difference between these two terms in SAP Marketing CLoud
-consumer
-contact
Thank you,
A.
Request clarification before answering.
Hi Alex Jakuba,
the difference between a SAP Marketing Cloud Consumer and a Contact is the following:
Depending on the business relationship, the contact can appear as either a consumer or a business partner (in the Business-to-Business (B2B) scenario). A contact is considered to be a consumer if he acts as a private person (B2C). A contact is a business partner if he acts as a representative of his company (B2B). If the contact is a business partner and part of the corporate account, then the business partner can be both a consumer and a contact at the same time.
Technically, the entities contact and consumers are the same. To identify them, we have two boolean attributes called "isConsumer" and "isContact".
If isConsumer = false AND isContact = false --> Prospect (unknown)
If isConsumer = false AND isContact = true--> Contact
If isConsumer = true AND isContact = false --> Consumer
If isConsumer = true AND isContact = true --> Contact and Consumer
Hope this helps!
Best regards,
Jasmin Jordan

Hi Jasmin,
I am currently working with contacts, I create a contact like a Consumer so, in Marketing Cloud my contact is associated with the company name, and also in the contacts section in my company is registered this contact; now I create another user as a "isContact", in Marketting Cloud, import monitor looks well, but inside the tool I don't know how to corroborate it so, my question is: How I can see "contact" relations in Marketing Cloud, how I can evidence that was created this relation?
Regards,
Hi Claudia,
the isConsumer and isContact fields can be visualized in segmentation, then you can see through there if your particular "person" has isContact=X or blank value.
Maybe they can even be visualized using the UI adaptation on the contact factsheet, but that I'm not sure.
Hi Claudia,
the relation between contact and account, you can only see in the contact / account factsheet or in segmentation. It depends also, what kind of integration do you use.
Please find follow blog, to get more insides about contact-to-account relationships with the Business Partner: Contact-to-Account Relationships in SAP Marketing Cloud
Best regards,
Jasmin
Hi at all,
Off topic, but heading in that direction:
I found out that if the boolean attribute "IS_CONTACT = True" is set, I can see the field "Function" field in the contact.
Are there any other fields that depend on this? And what happens if I set "IS_CONSUMER = True"?
Thanks for your help!
