SAP Marketing: Campaign Stop and Follow-Up Actions

We are working with SAP Marketing on-prem. Our campaign setup looks like this:

Our use case: We have some daily running campaign which is inviting customers to some type of surveys (via custom action supporting email or SMS). Those customers should be reminded some time later via a regular "Send Email" follow-up action in case some trigger was activated. However, within specific timeframes (e.g. Christmas Break), customers should not be contacted with those surveys. The details differ from market to market:

  1. Some markets do not want to send any email (no invitation and no reminder)
  2. Some markets do want to send reminders for survey invitations which were sent before the Christmas break, however, they do not want to send new invitations

Generally, we have one campaign per market and we would pause the campaign when the Christmas break starts and resume it when its over. I tested the scenarios and as I understood, the second option (only send reminders within the break) is supported by default. This means that no initial/start actions are executed anymore when a campaign is paused. However, follow-up actions (as the "Send Email" reminder) are still sent within a campaign pause if the trigger is activated. Can someone confirm that behavior for campaign pauses?

Furthermore: Is there any way to stop both initial actions and follow-up actions when a campaign is paused?

Thanks for the expertise & BR

Hello Christian,

your assumption is correct, that a campaign pause results in follow-up actions (reminders) still being executed. In case you want to stop both the start-trigger, as well as the follow-up triggers, you would need to stop (and copy) the campaign, instead of pausing it.

Please find details about campaign stop & pause behavior here:

Johannes
