Dear Expertise,
We have existing integration with ECC on C4C, as the conversion of S4 is happening soon, how can we replace all the existing Customer External ID in C4C ID Mapping in order to continue integration of S4 with C4C on existing Account Master Data (C4C)?
1. In HCI, from ECC, can we pass in only C4C Internal ID in order to update C4C Accounts? I mean is C4C able to update the correct Account if we pass in C4C Internal ID since S4 External ID will definitely be different from ECC External ID.
2. For Material in C4C, can we do a mass update on existing Material External ID?
3. Is there any mass merge customer functionality in C4C?
Appreciate if you could provide any insights or experience dealing with C4C existing data during conversion of ECC to S4.
Thank you

Hi,
In order to mass modify the external ID of objects like Material or Account you can use the "ID Mapping for Integration" work center and here you can try with "ID Mapping from Microsoft Excel®" option to download and then update based on your project need.
Alternatively, you can also think of using Data Workbench for Business Object "Object Identifier Mapping" by exporting and then importing the updated information.

Hi wanyee,
As mentioned by saurabhkabra2009 the best way is to mass update ID mappings using Excel template available in C4C.
I am not sure what additional information you are looking for but I believe it might be useful to notice that when moving from ECC to S4HANA you must also change the communication arrangement which also influences the way numbers are assigned to the customers. The way ERP sends customer data to C4C differs from the way S4HANA does (ERP has customer and S4HANA has a BP) as ERP sent the data using DEBMAS and ADRMAS IDoc messages and S4HANA utilizes Web Service (one message for both customer and address data).
By default once BP is replicated from S4HANA to C4C its BP number in S4HANA is sent in the message towards C4C. Once the BP is replicated in C4C ID mapping entry is created linking the 2 numbers and confirmation message with BP numbers (C4C & S4HANA) is sent back to S4HANA (by default the numbers differ) and the relation between S4HANA BP number and C4C BP number are stored in S4HANA. From that moment BP messages sent from S4HANA contain both numbers (InternalID and ReceiverInternalID).
The similar process applies in case of customers created directly in C4C that are being replicated to S4HANA. In the scenario with old ERP external customer number was assigned already when creating customer in C4C thus ERP already received 2 numbers (customer in ERP was created with an external - managed by C4C - number range).
Please note that I am describing the standard integration flows - it is possible that your integration flows were altered according to the specific needs of your business.

Bartosz
