SAP Customer Data Platform - Processing Purposes

Hi together,

I have watched the video on microlearning about Procesing Purposes und also read some blogs and looked into SAP Portal and also made some tests on the console.

Can someone explain Processing Purposes in general ? How is the interaction between CDP und Processing Purposes ? what steps to follow in order to make a reasonable test? I have difficulty understanding the context and the connection between the CDP and Processing Purposes ?

Perhaps there are some webinars or online-demo which can help understanding better this issue.

Hi otunca,

It's worth having a look over some videos and Blogs regarding some of the other products from Customer Data Cloud such as our Enterprise, Consent and Preference Management solution.

When someone signs up for a Newsletter, an offers email, a webinar or even asks for an e-receipt Consent will be collected to comply with legal regulations e.g. GDPR so that it's clear to the Consumer what data will be collected about them and for what purpose it will be used e.g. marketing, to send an e-receipt. Some processing purposes are will be optional e.g. allow my data to be shared with a 3rd party to get offers, some will be required for the business transaction and only for this use e.g. notify me when me purchase is out for delivery or there is a defect.

In order to manage these different scenarios and ensure you have the right communication with customers and use data in the right way we have the processing purposes in CDP.
